Sally Garozzo

Melodic and poingant with a bittersweet edge

About Me

Let the music enfold you and gently rock your soul to a new level.Since finishing a demanding diploma in Popular Music Performance at London’s Vocaltech Vocal School in December 2000, where she won PERFORMER OF THE YEAR, Sally has been sought after as a professional singer in her own right. Her showcase at London’s West One Four on July 23rd has left her with a ‘superstar’ reputation from many critics.Sally Garozzo is an artist who transports us to our deepest feelings both lyrically and sonically. Her voice is sweet and rich stabbed with bleaker tones in songs like Unfaithful and Do You Believe. Sally’s openness leaves us in no doubt as to what she’s talking about. Forget fancy poetry, she talks straight. Some songs are sweet, some are dark… all are honest. Her debut album, The Essence of Solitude, is a work of musical art capturing the motions of her loneliest times. Don’t be fooled by her seriousness though, she has a great sense of humour and a real passion for life. "I am an only child. My father is from Sicily and my mother from the sunny shores of Clacton on Sea in Essex! So I'm a real mixed bag of fish n chips, one lonely cockle and a handful of sun dried tomatoes with chilli!" SG Her passion for singing started when she five. By the age of seven she was wowing parents, teachers and friends with her confidence and voice. Traditional church music was her earliest influence. It was the rich harmonies and dark melodies that captured the essence of her spirituality and brought her closer to herself. During her late teenage years, she sang alto for The South London Singers and enjoyed the choral music of Faure, Durufle, Mozart and Handel. Since then, her influences have been Alanis Morisette, Incubus, Madonna and Evanessence. Her songwriting began 9 years ago, after being infected with Girl Power! It was then that she found inspiration to discover how to craft songs. Through trial and error, her songwriting grew. Her grade 3 piano skills, coupled with a good ear for harmony and melody, gave her a good start, but a calling was the real mother of invention.Nichol Thompson and James Knight, are two thirds of the talent that brought this album to life. They are my friends and musical mentors. James has played/recorded with the Scissor Sisters, Kirsty MacColl, The Pogues, Zoe Birkett and many more. Nichol Thompson has played with: Incognito, The Brand New Heavies and Omar.“Sally Garozzo's music is, in our opinion, both revolutionary and different. Her presence is extremely powerful and one must watch her live in order to fully appreciate her remarkable talent ". Samantha Crompton of TTL Excellence Records
