About Me

Born on the 27th of November 1975 in Hampstead, North London and sharing my date of birth with Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee, I grew up in North London (Colindale and Hendon) as a child (My main, first musical influence was Kate Bush since 1978 and I grew up with listening to her), before moving to Northampton in the Midlands of England in 1986.....Since September 1989, I have pursued my ambition as a singer and lyricist and have hundreds of studio recordings under my belt. My first studio recording was in July 1990, but the rest started in January 1994 at the Egg Room Recording Studio in Northampton, which shortly afterwards became known as The Lodge Recording Studio (Recorded there between 1994 to 2007). I was briefly one half of a duo, with Tom Nevill called, Aphasia (1993 - 1995), which was a subtle side issue to my own stuff and the best thing was the name of the band, which Tom chose. I also have recorded with many talented musicians over the years and I currently record at the Hot Rock Studio in Northampton......I have had live performances in Bedfordshire in 1998 and 1999, but as I'm not much of a musician, I have remained a recording artist and haven't been heard on the local "live circuit". I've been heard on the radio numerous times, in the U.K. and abroad. One of my songs, "In the Languid Lagoon" was covered/performed by a local band live in 2000, I think. I have fans spread out across the globe, including many nice fans in America. I already have a homepage and a fan club on Yahoo Groups and also my original myspace page :-......http://www.myspace.com/leoneferuaten .........but I thought it would be good to have a page in the music area as well! ...I look forward to hearing from you! ....... ......... My role on the music scene is probably best described as that of a mythical idol - a person (Or a song) you may have heard about, but never met and know nothing about. I have remained well beneath the radar of the contempory music scene, especially with little or no interest from commercially acceptable, major record labels (I went through a phase in the 1990's of trying to appeal to them, but just accumulated an impressive list of rejection letters). When people do finally met me they don't know what to expect and my larger-than-life personality looms over every aspect of any recording that I've done. I'm unpredictable, enigmatic, eccentric and even alluring (I have been told!) - don't know about that last one though! ..........My 10th selection of tracks comes from my 2006 C.D., "The Total Topaz Tiger". The first song is "A Cosmic Frame Of Mind" (Making it's 2nd appearance on MySpace), which was originally written in December 1992. It was studio recorded at The Lodge Recording Studio in Northampton with Max Read in August 2005. The second track chosen is "They Came From Mars". Even though it's not next to "A Cosmic Frame Of Mind" on "The Total Topaz Tiger" (It's track 16 out of 21), the two songs WERE next to each other on the cassette, "Songs From The Mystical Black Cat" back in March 1993, which featured the original home-made demo tracks! "They Came From Mars" was also written in December 1992 and when it came to finally do a studio recording of it, I knew Gavin Kaufman would be perfect to re-do the music for it! Gavin recorded his music in November 2005 and I recorded my vocals in early December 2005, at the Hot Rock Studio in Northampton. The 3rd track is "Voodoo Valerie (New Version)". Added to MySpace, partially for Jade, this song was originally written in August 1993 and a New Version was written in March 1994. This is the second studio recording (As I had previously recorded it for "Return Of The Topaz Tiger" in April 1994) and I worked with Max Read to record it in August 2005. "Tooth'n'Claw (New Version)" is the 4th song picked. It was originally written in August 1992 and that original version appeared on the first tape with the title simply as "The Topaz Tiger". It is inspired by the book by Ffolkes. The New Version was written in August 1993 and Gavin Kaufman has done another excellent version on the music, when it was finally studio recorded in December 2005. The 5th song chosen in "Delta Dream", which was the opening track to "The Total Topaz Tiger" C.D. It was written in June 1993 and also opened "The Topaz Tiger" demo cassette album in September 1993. Unusually, the reprise of the song (Which was written in August 1993) WASN'T recorded for the end of that tape - this was remedied for the 2006 C.D., with both tracks recorded with Gavin Kaufman doing the music in December 2005 (Again at Hot Rock Studio). The New Version has an intro that incorporates a melody inspired by "The Teddy Bears Picinic" (Written by Jimmy Kennedy and John Walter in 1907), which you may recognise. The 6th track is the 2nd appearance on MySpace of "La Sainte Courtisane", which was inspired by the unfinished Oscar Wilde play. It was written in April 1994 and was first studio recorded in April 1994 for "The Return of The Topaz Tiger" - this second studio recording features music by Gavin Kaufman and he elevated the song to a new level while capturing all of the essence of what I wanted the music to be for such a magical track. I hope you enjoy listening to this selection ! - Leo
