You See Her and Then Hear Her Sing, Really... Damn

About Me

Ramona DeBreaux cant sleep. She wakes up in the middle of the night, racing to her MacBook to press record. Its like Im dreaming these incredible melodies and I cant sleep. They feel stuck inside, says the multi-talented vocalist/ songwriter.DeBreaux is restless for another reason. Shes been hustling up songs and hitting the road, often times 4 cities at a time, just to get her songs heard by programmers and Record Company executives.Inspired by Ramonas lone street campaign, her CD was played by a staffer for then Def Jam President Kevin Liles who drew up the paperwork and signed the deal. But Ramonas debut would be stalled as Kevin Liles was amidst his own career move, a jump that would shake the entire music industry. Man, My attorney Donald Woodard called me and said, Ramona, Kevin just walked out. I was stunned. Wow.Ramona was one of a roster of many artists who had to start over. In fact since her last record, One Chance hit the airwaves and mixtapes across the country, the only question everyone seems to ask is when is the album coming out?Thats the question Ramona cant wait to answer. In an industry of abstracts, the only thing that is certain is that Ramona has the talent plus more. When you hear her sing, youre like Damn! And shes sexy, shes the whole package, says Rahzel Godfather of Noise, who befriended Ramona after overhearing her singing at a radio station. And she can write too.Ramona, whose style is described as Mariah meets Mary, is now working with the industrys hottest producers. Hailing from Springfield, Mass just north of NYC, she loves working with hip hop producers for gritty street beats.Ramonas vocal ability, however, has been inspired by the likes of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and the legendary Minnie Ripperton. As a teenager, her manager Rich Nice would jokingly tease her calling her high notes, "dolphin whale calls". Ramona could sing almost every part in a choir, including bass. It was in her High School Jazz Rock Band that she developed an appreciation for legends such as Manhatten Transfer and Take 6.This blend of musical influences has been the perfection culmination for Ramona who lives for Hip Hop but like all vocalists, yearns to really sing. Others have labeled it Hip Hop R&B, but DeBreaux, Ramonas artist name, stays clear of titles.I never wanted to be a Hip Hop R&B Princess or Queen. Mary got that. I just want to sing and write songs that make you go, man, I feel that. Her single This Time was produced by Black Eye Peas My Humps famed Remix producer Detroit Nix who heard DeBreaux sing freestyle with a band at a local talent show she was merely hosting. After I sang people were like, Why are you on the radio? You should be singing! Listeners been calling asking when Im coming out. So now, Im hustlin harder than ever. And once again, DJs are talking about DeBreauxs new joint. Many say This Time is one of her best records yet. Hip Hop Soul Chick Ramona DeBreaux is a vocalist with drive and ability and the talent. And Shes restless.Luda told me, Man do not stop Mo. Keep hustling. Keep singing. I was thinking, I cant stop cause this is what Im here to do. Thats why its in my dreams. You know?
