THE NEW BLACK is a hard rock band that hails from central New Jersey. Combining catchy, technical and inspirational music with heart-driven lyrics, THE NEW BLACK is able to separate itself from all of the other bands out there. Coming from an area where Emo and Hardcore are prominent, THE NEW BLACK stands out as one of the most popular rock bands. With a following ranging from young to old THE NEW BLACK consistantly fills venues whenever they play.THE NEW BLACK first met when Dan McDonough met Gabe Hurley and TJ Mecka in high school back in 2001. They joined forces and brought in Louie Ambrosini to play the drums and provide a rhythmic backbone for the band, they were then called "Self Denial". For over 5 years now they have been performing as one solid machine. Playing shows in New York City, all over New Jersey and all over Pennsylvania as well.They have been featured on radio stations like 95.1 WZZO (Whitehall, PA), 89.5 The Giant (Mansfield, PA), 94.1 WYSP (Philadelphia, PA) and many more. They have been featured in publications such as The Asbury Park Press and other newpaper and magazines.Recently while recording at Purple Light Studios in Brooklyn, NY the band added friend Julian Deych as rhythm guitar and backup vocals, John Micco, bass and backup vocals, and Jay Rosado on drums. These newly acquired members complement the dynamic musical force of Dan and Gabe.At this time The New Black is still recording at Purple Light Studios and working with Producer Michael Barile. They are recording their first full length album and fourth overall release. Look for this album to be released sometime in early 2007. Until then THE NEW BLACK will keep playing shows and entertaining crowds.
