About Me

Ta-daaaaaaa! Loud & Proud. Irritating to some, amusing to most. Passionate about everything, apart from mediocrity. Music is my life, I'm surrounded by superb people and generally have rather a lot going on at any one time. Got my gorgeous flat in a quaint Essex market village called Saffron Walden - home to Lovejoy, Jamie Oliver and a real-live hedge maze. Alas, am in the process of moving a bit closer to work and will hopefully be in Epping by Christmas. I have two cat babies, who aren't really babies any more. I discovered that fairly recently when my eyes burst into flame at the sight of Beau making raffish and alarming advances towards Matilda. He was in the vet's quicker than you can say 'Nat & Georgia'. I work in Soho as PR Exec for the National Magazine Company - Cosmo, Esquire etc. Not a bad way to earn a crust :o) Am now fully intergated into London life and am currently taking my life in my hands reading 'Satanic Verses' on the tube. Tough for a country girl, but it's worth it to be working next to Liberty... I love: dressing in neon and raving till the sun comes up, breaks, starbucks, second hand books with inscriptions, trading in oddities on ebay, good live performances, people with energy, love, non-pretentious clubbing, Laura Ashley, glow sticks, Las Vegas and meat. I hate: tomatoes on my sandwiches, not seeing enough of friends in distant lands (Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds), rubbish books as recommended on Richard and Judy's Book club, (I TRUSTED YOU. INFIDELS) forgetting my spanish, losing things, people who make me leave clubs, people who wear black tights with trainers, bad djs, good liars and unoriginal rappers. There's a million more, as I'm pretty opinionated, but that'll do for now. Bless you for making it this far. Layout made by lilpinkpnaii at CreateBlog.com .

Movies:

Atonement, Walk the Line, American Gangster, Moulin Rouge, Romeo & Juliet (Baz Luhrmann is my director of choice) Troy, Gladiator. Also love the whole yank comedy crew, aka Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, The Wilsons etc etc. God bless Ron Burgundy. Love music films like 'Ray' and 'Walk The Line'. I Vote Pedro, I'd never put Baby in a Corner, and if you touch me, I'll touch you back. Work em out :o) Martial arts movies, anything with the Def Jam crew, and, of course, Disney.DVD wise - X-Files & CSI. I'm a closet geek. Def Jam All Stars ("Haaaaam-burger!") and any live music DVDs. Eddie Izzard & Peter Kay make me laugh my ass off. A highly original choice, I feel.

Television:

Top Gear, Californication, Simpsons, Flight of the Conchords. Fave sitcom is 'Fawlty Towers'. And although I adore 'Friends', it's hardly worth mentioning, is it? Shouldn't they write that in to the universal MySpace template as a standard?

Books:

Currently: The Satanic Verses. Started it two days before Salman made the honours list and it all kicked off. It's bloody good. 'Birds without wings' by Louis de Bernieres. Sobbed on the tube on numerous occasions, had an old lady offer me a tissue to stop the tears ruining the pages too much. Incredibly strong and beautiful book about the rise and fall of the Ottoman Empire. War is a disgusting thing. Have finished: 'Untold Stories', an autobiography of sorts from Alan Bennett. Read 'Merde, actually' by Stephen Clarke. Absolutely priceless, and a hilarious, easy read! Go for it! Have now finished reading 'Hundred Years of Solitude' by Garcia Marquez again. Have read it roughly 8 times and it's falling apart, which I guess is testament to its power :o) Have now finished... 'East of Eden'. Again. Beautiful, electric, fantasia of a book. Truly epic, and still moves me to tears. Have now finished....'War Reporting for Cowards' by Chris Ayres. Hilarious account of a ginger weeny getting embedded with the Marines on the front line in Iraq to write for The Times - Cheers Mr. Robertson for passing it on! (even though I do turn up to top London clubs with it under my arm :o)Generally... Anything by John Steinbeck ('East of Eden'), Louis de Bernieres (Señor Vivo and the Coca Lord), Zadie Smith ('White Teeth'), H.G. Wells (Especially the short stories!), George Orwell ('1984'), Roald Dahl (formed my character from the age of 5, god bless little Matilda), and all the amazing Hispanic literature from uni... Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Lorca, etc etc (NOT Unamuno... :o)Mary Renault ('The Bull from the Sea') & Kazuo Ishiguro ('Pale View of Hills')...Am a complete bookworm and resent how much this work malarky cuts into my reading life! Love anything epic, anything tragically romantic, or any quality re-workings of old mythology... Recommendations greatly appreciated! My lover Rosey wrote this poem, and I think it's beautiful, so she's very kindly let me post it here. Heroes:

My poppa: Raised me on a diet of the best old-school mowtown and new urban music while I was still strapped to the car seat of his Prelude.. Passed on to me the love for music that defines my life, and was the ultimate Little Girl's Daddy. Love ya xxxMy mama: An incredibly strong woman who I admire enormously... She is also a DIY genius and helped me with the remodelling, restyling and redecorating of my flat... right down to laying floors, tiling and upholsetering! Couldn't do anything without her!My sista: Baba Rosie kicks ass. She don't take any crapola from dudes, says what she thinks, does what she wants, and is generally just a younger, hotter version of me... Grrr.... :o)Miss Dita Von Teese: Marilyn Manson's lady, ultimate burlesque queen, fashion goddess and downright sexy bitch.
