About Me

Aaron Waters (a.k.a DJ Durty) came into music the way most do. He broke out an old guitar at the age of of 13 to play loud-ass music. Initially influenced by such gospel acts as Metallica, Pantera, Morbid Angel, Megadeth, etc., he later went on to form two metal bands in Tallahassee, Florida. At the age of 21, Durty joined the Army, and after basic training, was sent to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. He was then instantly submersed in the rich Dance Music scene that exists in Northern California. After only a few months of being exposed to electronic music in clubs and raves, Durty saw the need to explore the inter-workings of how electronic music was made and arranged. He started by using Fruity Loops in his spare time and after few months, also picked up DJiing. In early 2004, Durty began to DJ at raves and a few club events in San Francisco. After much trial, and even more error, Durty began playing his own production out in Summer, 2004. He struggled to find a sound that would best suit his gigs, but found his production falling below par. But after spending some time with a few UK producers (the ones who pioneer the music he was writing) Durty found his main sound. He still typically loses it when he gets really drunk, only to be found next to his car keys. Anyways, Durty buckled down, spent too much money, and stayed up way too late at night to finish his first artist album, Nautical, which was released independantly on December 4th, 2004. He continues to produce and to do collaborations, as well as DJ in the Bay Area and Monterey. He is currently putting together his second album with a targeted release around early 2007.Join my mailing list and get Digital D&A Promo stuff!!! Sign up for our Promo List!!

Influences: All forms of musical influences have affected me or my music. Polka is a big favorite! My first influences I remember were contemporary jazz artists from the 80s and early 90s such as Al di Miola, who blew me away in concert in his manipulation of the guitar. And then also classic jazz, folk, and blue grass from the south that I got my hands on via le Market de Flea.Everything from Gregorian Chant to Motorhead, Enigma to NIN, Lynyrd Skynyrd to The Crystal Method, and Linkin' Park to Jefferson Airplane, and everything in between has influenced me in some way. Pretty much every genre of music in all parts of the world.... except country.
