Band Members: The Amelies consist of:
Robin Mitchell (writer, guitarist, lyricist, keyboards, general-all-round nice bloke, the guy who very patiently recorded and produced all of band's music)
Amalie Roberts (name-sake, writer, lyricist, embracer of all things indie and alternative, vocalist, heroine of most of the songs)
Jamie Gardinor (bassist, veteran of a metal era that left him tatooed and ready to rock harder than all of the other Amelies, chain-smoker, tea-drinker, champion of afternoon beers)
Gareth Swire (drummer, jazz-inspired, laid back, patriarch of the band, the Amelie who towers above the others, but never lifts his hand to any...except for applause).
Influences: blur, elastia, film noir, the smiths, pavement, raveonettes, wallflowering school discos, beck, the cure, muddy festivals, sonic youth french prog rock, early pj harvey, b-movie sound tracks, funk, spunk, messy hair, eyeliner.
Sounds Like: robert smith.... maybe not all the songs, but if you speed up old cure records it sounds like the amelies. weird
