I grew up in Jersey, New York, Texas and Florida, but I'm also an avid traveler, mostly by way of excessive daydreaming. I'm painfully shy, but incredibly social. I am an attention whore who hates the spotlight. I love a good laugh and love even more to make one happen in others. I can spend half the day on Discovery, History and National Geographic Channels and the other half on Nickelodeon, Disney and Noggin. I'm spontaneous, unpredictable and a bit of a firebrand. Self-expression is my orgasm, but the easiest way into my head is by way of sense appeal. My idea of a perfect date: a museum or arboretum trip. Best rainy day activity: writing, painting or reading about writing, painting or design. Hot weekend activities: hiking, athletics, traveling to random localities, like Kansas City or Upstate NY, simply for the experience of "newness." Favorite topics of discussion: spirituality, art, music, nature, literature, health, culture, travel and design. Quickest way to my heart: through my stomach. On the bad side, I'm a bit of a mental wanderer. I'm emotionally immature. I've got power issues borne of deep-rooted insecurities. I've perfected the non-art of self-sabotage (working on reversing that). I've been known to isolate myself to a dangerous degree and keep those who express care for me at a distance (working on that one, too). I'm terribly insecure and incredibly indecisive. I internalize everything and I require a bit of patience from others. It's me, at this current stage...

I'd like to meet:

I need to constantly be intrigued, or I get lost in my daydreams. I want to meet eccentrists. Anyone who lives a life I don't know of: models, dancers, teachers, racecar drivers, buddhists, wiccans, drag queens, etc. Those who can quench my innocent thirst for contemporary anthropological knowledge. Jesus Christ. Jamie King. My father I never knew. J.K. Rowling. Hugh Jackman. Janet Jackson. Julia Roberts. Mario Testino. The writers of "Coupling," "Drawn Together," and "Adult Swim." My next best friend. Marlon Brando. Bette Davis. My next ex-bf. Fiona Apple. Tori Amos. Jack Nicholson. I'd like to smack the sense into Britney Spears. I'd like to drop-kick Justin Timberlake. I want to kiss Christian Bale's feet and pull Scarlett Johannsen's hair. Someone who doesn't mind intellectually challenging me, who can also emotionally baby me without taking the condescension route. I'd like to meet people to plan parties with, go to museums, jumpstart impromptu picnics, explore the world, wax philosophically and create something together whether that be art, friendship or The Great American Novel...

Soundtrack to My Life: "With Every Heartbeat"

For a large chunk of my childhood, I didn't cry. This probably surprises, well, everyone. Thinking about it, I'm shocked as well. Growing up, my mother would always scold "only little girls cry." Natu...

The Good Boys Guide To Selling Yourself Short

Sometimes I feel as if I am chasing a clarity that will never be mine. I often wonder if that "something more" is, because I have a strong sense of him, like he's smiling and his face is so radiant an...

They say it’s Your (MY!) Birthday

There was so much running through my head today as I showered: I wonder if it will rain? Maybe I should buy an electric shaver? OMG! Today is the last day of 28! Tomorrow I shall enter the last year o...

A Kiss Is A Wish Your Heart Makes

At some point between arrival and one too many glasses of red wine, it apparently seemed like a good idea to make the move. And I went right in for it, like a six year old (or me at any present age) i...

When Walking Wounded

There is always a pause. It seems like ages. A silent shred or rip in time's continuum. I'll sigh to myself as my eyelids court a newfound heaviness and blanket my sight in darkness as, in echoes and ...

The Act of Inaction

I don't think that I am needy. Ok, I'm lying maybe I am needy. Just a little. Ok, maybe more than just a little. Look, whatever. All I'm trying to say is that I am so tired of hearing stories from all...

(Mis) Adventures in Singlehood: Asking A Hot Boy Out on A Date

There are three things I’m exceptionally good at: getting across a story, kicking anyone’s ass as Chun Li in "Street Fighter," and eating (yes, I said eating. As in pigging out. As in givi...

(Mis) Adventures in Singlehood: Let Love Rule

A short cab ride, a long journey into the mind and heart. It grows increasingly difficult to not run into eachother when we both share the same friends, experiences and hangout spots. He wore his unha...

Bye Bye, Insecurity, Bye Bye

It was a simple, cut-and-dry situation. Boy meets boy, right? Er, boy should meet boy? Boy could've met boy? Boy wanted to meet boy, but boy was too insecure to allow it? Picture me in the gym, and oh...
