Law (Noun) - A rule of conduct or procedure established by custom, agreement, or authority. Big Law (Pro Noun) 1 half of Hip Hop super group Crosstown Mob (C.T.M.); Brooklyn, N.Y. in its purest form; Next. Damien Big Law Collins is a man on a mission. He, and his C.T.M. cohorts, want to restore honor to the current platinum plaque or bust world of Hip Hop music and reclaim the East Coasts dominance atop the charts; more so, New York Citys prominence, and in particular Brooklyns. Sounds complicated right? I would typically agree with that conclusion except for one minor detail: in preparing to pen this bio I had the opportunity to listen and absorb this young mans music and his powerful take on life. I now consider myself a true believer, and as such, would like to take literary liberty and amend bestselling author Robert Greenes 48 Laws of Power by tacking on a new and improved 49th law: Never doubt Big Law! As physically imposing as he is lyrically, most would be tempted to draw comparisons to the once and future king of New York, Frank White. You would be doing yourself a great disservice though by simply stopping at the big and Black surface that looms before you, for underneath it all, Big Law is no clone. He is a hustlers hustler, with a flair for bringing the dark and damp back blocks of New York City to life in vivid Technicolor. On songs such as the mind-blowing, Heatmakerz (Diplomats, LilFlip and M.O.P.) produced No Honor, featuring Grammy nominated Product G&B of Santana and Wyclef Jean Maria, Maria fame, Big Law eloquently captures the trust no one attitude of a man coming to grips with his fatally flawed world. Never afraid to change speed and take it to the clubs, on My Gun Burst featuring Smack DVD icon, The Statue, Jae Millz, the two trade electrifying shotta style lyrics over yet another Heatmakerz crafted reggae bashment banger thats sure to be a hit. Other contributors on Big Laws immaculately produced debut project include Riot Music, who laces him with the New York to California anthem Gutta Nigga which features West Coast phenomenon OG Strong. The bouncy track and infectious hook contrast the rowdy bars that Law and Strong spit as they definitively explain to the world why there can be no comparisons made between them and the current mass of mediocre MCs polluting the airwaves. You can expect nothing less than greatness from Big Law as a solo artist and also as one half of Hip Hop powerhouse squad Crosstown Mob (C.T.M.), with fellow partner in crhyme Chris Live AKA Shaker. Big Law has the wondrous ability to seamlessly change topics, cadences and flows, all the while sounding at home on each neck-snapping track. His signature style and versatility never overpowers the listener, as this veteran performer brilliantly balances his boastful Brooklyn swagger with genuine introspective substance. Big Law is undoubtedly ready for the spotlight. He is a massive talent with obvious universal appeal and charisma. He personifies the ability of the common man to transcend his stark surroundings through hard work and hustle. Hes a true success story. According to him, when it comes to turning nothing into something, he wrote the book thats pretty impressive. Now, with his arrival into the rap game, Big Law will get the chance to rewrite the Hip Hop history book as well.
