About Me

The Campaign for Real-Time might be the greatest band of all time. The question is what era?
They claim they're time travelers and their music reflects it. Discorporate melodies that reference every song you think you've already heard before, but you haven't yet. Or maybe you already have, and you didn't know.
Their songs could call home anywhere and anywhen. When we say they're firmly entrenched in the 80s revival, it could very well be the spirituals of 1880s, or the 2080s. In their world the Amen Break beat nestles gently alongside vicious bass, psychedelic guitar freakouts, gurgling moogs, and angelic choirs. This is post-iPod playlist rock. Their music is equal parts new wave, no wave, Delta blues, freak folk, rocksteady, arena rock, Brit-pop, yindie, big beat, acid jazz, jungle, singer/songwriter, IDM, hyphy, grime.
The Phoenix said: "Any band who can combine hip-hop, rock, metal, and all the other stuff that goes into a typical C4RT tune and sound like more than the sum of their disparate parts has gotta be doing something right. This was one campaign out of Boston that was a winner all the way."
"I can't stop playing this track at home. It sounds like one man's attempt to make sense of the landscape around him but it's just one of the most intense, compelling songs I think I've heard in ages." -- Steve Lamacq, BBC 1 DJ, 12/4/06
Kerrang! said: "imagine if you will, Fugazi playing Prince songs with The Neptunes producing and you come close to the sound achieved on C4RT's (as they're known) debut. A melange of '80s electro funk, falsetto and all manner of bleeps and squeaks, 'Yes...' is an uplifting party album that effortlessly mixes soul, punk, funk and pop without ever appearing contrived."
Rory Stark (singer, guitars, programming) leads his band of world-weary warriors: Poet/filmmaker Colonel Panic (drums, programming); Expressionist painter P-MIDI (keyboards, programming); International Playboy MAGNET (bass, vocals); Lorry driver Elton Steel (keyboards, vocals); and introducing Lux Lockhart (keyboards, vocals)
