Yaya a.k.a Ms Incredible born Janel Chante' Smith was born in K.Y. but raised in N.C. where she first started rapping. Since the age of 12 she has been know to get down with the fellas exchaning bars of heat in the cyphers. She watched YO' MTV Raps and Rap City for homework, where she learned about MC Lyte which influenced Yaya to start writing her own rhymes. She grew up banging the hits of artist like Big Daddy Kane, Eric B, Epmd, Ganstar, Tribe Called Quest, Leaders of The New School and groups of that nature just to name a few. She credits her style to none other than Busta Rhymes who is by the way her favorite MC. Even though she is born and raised in the south she is sometimes critizied for trying to be "up north". Yaya is huge fan of East Coast music and she refuses to give up of her love for those east coast tracks. She never switches up for NO ONE! Being a lesbian female artist (she doesn't call her self a rapper) Yaya has already faced hardships trying to make a name for herself in the business. In her opinion females don't get the respect and shine they deserve. A woman shouldn't have to sell her body to sell her talent, which is what Yaya stands by and holds true in her heart. Trying to compete with rap music these days has been an obstacle for Yaya so she tries to come with a different flava and sound at times that is why she does not call herself a rapper. "Everybody Raps" is what Yaya likes to often say. "You have to be more than just a rapper. She is ready and hungry, with influences from Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Missy , and Jay Z she is a very intriguing artist. She had the opportunity to grace the stage with some big time names like Bubba Sparks, Rick Ross, Young Joc, and has opened up the for the legendary Doug E Fresh and Whodini. She has also been featured in "The Niche Carolina Magazine" and you can also catch her in one of the editions of "Indie Street Magazine" She is Upstates Illest.
