Kool FM's DJ Em-Tek from Leyton east London started out playing on decks at the early age of 15 after finding out about the rave culture from a school friend in 1991/2, Dj influences include DJ Randall, DJ Kool Herc, DJ Afrika Boombata, DJ Craze & Slaughter Mob. Not till 2000 would you have seen DJ Em-Tek's name on a major dnb night but things were soon to change. His 1st booking shortly after joining new pirate station Origin 95.2fm was for Innovation @ stratford rex soon followed with a second helping a year later from the same promotor.
3 months later in March 2001 he preformed on Dillinja & Lemon d's legendary Valve Sound System the only time it appeared in heart of the West End. Following this Em-Tek has displayed his skills at various places such as Formation World of Drum & Bass (Egg Nightclub) Infrared Album Launch (Turnmills) T.O.V Album Launch (Mass) One Nation (Brixton Academy) Innovation 1st D&B Weekender (Spain) Clash of the Titans (Mass) Jungle Fever (Heavens) Big Rewind (The End nightclub) London Zu (Scala) Metalheadz (Herbal) Essence of Chi(Plan B/Herbal/Hidden), Atmosphere (Medicine Bar) Fuse/Drum & bass arena 10th b'day (Ministry of Sound) Breakin Science (Camden Palace) Moondance (SE1) Mc Convention (Rex).
March 2003 saw DJ Flight on Radio 1xtra showcase Dj Em-Tek's mix as the breakthru dj talent of that time. Em-Tek joined Kool FM during 2005 and has since held down a regular show on 'Liquid Mondays'Aswell as djin Em-Tek was manager of underground record shop 'Boggie Times' in romford for 3 years, he has also been part of promoting big tunes like Big Bad Bass - Dillanja + Lemon D Album (Valve), LK - Marky & Xrs (V recs), Twist Em Out - Dillinja (T.O.V), More Fire - Bad Company (Breakbeatkaos), Capaeiro - J majik (Infra red).
2006 saw the birth of www.essenceofdub.com www.myspace.com/essenceofdub where Em-Tek takes care of his dubstep agency and is due to start a record label with a dubstep compilation double cd in 2008.
