About Me

Dave Seaman is one of the original pioneers of house music. He has been DJing for over 25 years, was the first editor of the clubbers bible, Mixmag, and has remixed and produced for everybody from U2 to Kylie and David Bowie to the Pet Shop Boys. He has also done over 20 mix compilations for the likes of Global Underground and Renaissance, been the main man behind the independent dance music labels, Stress Records and Audio Therapy and still found time to model for Levi's in Japan, present TV programmes for the BBC and tour the world probably more than any other DJ.

Audio Therapy's head honcho Dave Seaman has been producing music for nearly 20 years. First it was under the Brothers In Rhythm and Brothers Love Dubs aliases with Steve Anderson and then Alan 'Loafer' Bremner. More recently, it was as Group Therapy with Chad Jackson and Stel. But now finally, he's succumbed to making a track under his own name, entitled 'Gobbledygook'."I wanted to go back to the original way DJs made records", said Dave. "Like when we made 'Such A Good Feeling' and 'The Mighty Ming'. It was all based around samples rather than the soft synth and plug ins world we seem to live in today. I spent hours sourcing from the strangest of places. There's everything from Native American Indians and Bulgarian choirs to Argentinian dance troupes and exotic birds".The result is an eastern influenced techy tribal affair with nods to the old school but still with it's feet firmly on contemporary dancefloors. There's also a remix to follow which is more of a full on progressive stomper but still retaining the organic flavours of the original. So why 'Gobbledygook'?"It'll make sense when you hear it" says Dave "Or not as the case may be!"For more audio samples visit the Therapy Website or listen right here.Feedback:Chris Fortier – “Balearic madness"Ashley Beedle – “Great widescreen production. Almost filmic. Hats off to Mr Seaman.”John Digweed – “Good stuff Dave.”Onionz – “SIIIIIIIK!James Talk – “Wicked! Mental tune!”Neil Quigley "Got big written all over it"Aldrin – “Ace track! Tribal house for the new generation!!”Col Hamilton – “Excellent!!!”Anil Chawla – “Really liking, interesting mash up of sounds"

Friend and Masters veteran Dave Seaman returns after a two-year absence to deliver a fresh, exciting mix of contemporary gems… Mention Dave Seaman and thoughts of a Renaissance album are invariably never that far behind, so it’s fitting our most ‘capped’ player return to handle the honours for the 10th volume in the prestigious Masters Series. The result is a varied excursion through electronica / dance, which – as ever – demonstrates Dave’s impeccable mixing and programming skills. Kicking-off from the left side of the field, Disc 1 blends two of dance hottest new properties, Apparat and Fairmont before taking-up the more traditional dance-reigns by way of Dusty Kids ‘Cowboys’. From there things rise to a quick gallop incorporating a who’s who of the current scene from Gui Boratto, Christian Fischer, Mark Knight, Skylark, Sasha and, of course, Underworld, who provide the closing crescendo with their very excellent ‘Beautiful Burnout’.“I’ve always viewed the Masters Series as a lasting snapshot of the very best the scene has to offer at that time,” says Dave, “Getting the balance right is never an easy task, so it’s always a long, hard process, but that only serves to make the end result more rewarding. As ever, my greatest hope is the fans and all who listen to it enjoy it too.” Dave keeps his self-imposed brief firmly in mind as he flips to the clubbier Disc 2, with contributions from Martin Buttrich, Solomun, Popof, Oliver Huntemann, Dubfire and Umek, concluding yet another incredible chapter in the Masters Series.Dave Seaman: The Masters Series Vol.10 is out March 10th at all good stores and exclusively via iTunes for download.CD One1.
