Guitar Lix & Hot Chix World Tour 2008

About Me

In the early days, there was turmoil. After a falling out that seemed to spring up and rip the rug right out from under their feet, The Revival were done. Three men stood alone, with one vision in mind: Melting the collective face of the masses. But before they could set forth on this mission, they’d need to recruit some help from old friends.
“This was really an idea that we had while we were still in The Revival.” says WWAB guitarist Dan Pickens. “We all enjoyed playing music together, but we felt that our style needed to be more defined as a whole.” Pickens continues on. “And that’s where everyone didn’t see eye to eye.”
However, not everyone in the band was as enthusiastic about the change as Dan, Ryan, and former drummer of The Revival Kyle Anerousis. Frontman, Shaun Thompson, and bassist Alex Birchmeir felt that the band needed to go in the complete opposite direction, embracing the pop punk aspects of The Revival and letting go of the metal aspects. And when these feelings came out, the boys decided it would be best to split up. Shaun and Alex left to pursue other bands, and Dan, Ryan and Kyle decided to start writing songs and searching for new members to complete their line up. The boys knew exactly what they wanted out of the person who would now front their new band. “We basically wanted someone with the balls to pull off a lot of our screaming parts, but with the awareness to know when to sing.” states Dinger. “And having someone who would be able to command a crowd for our shows was also important to us.” adds Pickens. “That’s why Phil was a perfect fit.” The “Phil” he’s referring to is former Welcoming Troy frontman Phil Verrecchio. “We knew Phil had the voice we were searching for, and he was the first person we called. We had basically decided before ever even playing with him that if he wanted to do this, he was in.”
“Bass is an important instrument, but it wasn’t needed for the writing process, so everyone agreed we’d just take things as they came.” explains Pickens. Luckily for them, their bass player came in the form of an old friend and bandmate.“Alex called me one day and asked me if I wanted to hang out. When he came over that night, he basically confessed that he felt like he’d made a big mistake and missed playing with us.” says Dinger. “We instantly welcomed him back in the band and were actually relieved we wouldn’t have to find his replacement.
Time has yet to tell if this formula will pay off. But the five members of War Within A Breath aren’t worried about that. “As long as we’re satisfied with the final product, we’ve done everything we can.” Explains Dinger. “Whether people like it or not is out of our hands.”
What’s left in the future for War Within A Breath has yet to be seen. One thing is for sure: These boys seem set on having fun the whole way.
