Almost out... of El Cajon

About Me

Searching for my muse, again! I love being in the food biz: harsh conditions, crap schedules, losing touch with friends, ugly burn scars and wrecked hands from countless washings! Who could ask for anything more?Being back in a kitchen after 2 years is difficult, I am out of touch, but reaching out.

My Interests

Food; holy crap I love food, not just as a fatty, but I really love food. Drink... yeah. "The Ladies", particularly red heads with tattoos. Ooh, piercings too! Bad Movies, you'll of course note the capitol letters, I have a shamefull love for crappy cinema; (and appaerntly the semi colon) Hudson Hawk, Super Troopers, Conan, Hackers, School of the Holy Beast (thanks Gary!) and Cinemax action movies in all their exploding glory. Knives, really good wine openers, and all sorts of dorky pariphenilia (books, video games, t-shirts only my friends think are funny(right Jamie?)), taking the bad joke way too far.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet lots of people, not in the "back stage and gushing emotion" sort of way, but more of a "cocktails in a dive bar" sort of way. They know they are cool, so I would be sort of an idiot to go on about how cool they are. So here they are; Jaques Pepin (he may not know it, but I he taught me how to cook), Siouxsie (of "and the banshees" fame, to see if she really was that great of a bitch), Mr. Bass (Greg's dad, to get a taste of how Greg got to be so f-ing funny), Julien (I actually know him, but he is married now and I don't get to see him as often as I'd like)

Music:

Hmm, it's a good thing I have friends who like cool and wacky music or else I'd be lost.

Movies:

I like movies.

Television:

Iron chef (but not Iron Chef America, the level of competetors and "chefs" is very different) but you have to understand, I watch cooking shows like my friends watch sports; I yell at the t.v., get out of my chair and pace around the room while questioning techniques and ingredients, throw up my hands in exasperation, it's pretty sad, really.

Books:

I like books. Zen and the Art of Motorycle Maintenence, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, read "The Living Sword", by Aldo Nadi, its a wonderful view into a different world. "The Method" and "The Techique" (two books, but now available in one big tome) by Jaques Pepin, basically "The Joy of Cooking" for the competent.

Heroes:

That would be revealing a bit too much... Erol Flynn, David Lee Roth (circa 1980's), Bugs Bunny, my Dad (one of a kind in a Dr. Gonzo sort of way; sneaky, funny, potentially dangerous, and a proficient dancer (who knew?))

American mall

Wow. Nothing makes me feel less of a connection to the rest of society than visiting a shopping mall.  Cliques I don't recognise, fashions I hate (lingerie aside), food I don't have any desi...
