The Perennials

...with a hard look on our face

About Me

The Perennials formed in late 2005 after various members' short-lived stints in a plethora of Boston-area bands including the Click Five, Furvis, Disaster Strikes, the Black Freighter, Sgt. Petersen and the Chicago Police, Slick Pig and Dead Ellington.
We played our first live show in the spring of 2006 as a four-piece , and then soldiered through a parade of lineup changes and botched recording sessions for a period of several years. Finally, through the saintly patience of our friends at Tactical Sound Studios, we managed to put together a six-song, over-a-year-in-the-making ordeal of a record. At this point we were playing with a six-piece lineup and had four guitar players. Shortly after the recording was finished, we finally coalesced into a semi-stable quintet. We never got the resources or the resolve together to give the record a proper release.
Refusing to let a little thing like having no records out weaken our resolve to be the biggest band in the world, we simply busted our asses booking and playing shows. We played all over the East Coast with bands like the Thermals, A Place to Bury Strangers, the Avengers, Japanther, the Chinese Stars, New Model Army, the Pharmacy, Totally Michael, the Low Budgets, Protokoll, Die Mannequin, the Vivian Girls, Ecstatic Sunshine, the Oxford Collapse, Read Yellow, Ungdomskulen, Deer Tick, the World/Inferno Friendship Society and so on and so on and so on...
The band is gearing up to play our last set of live shows, but we're got a whole slew of projects in the works that should keep us busy for a while to come. We're anxiously awaiting new remixes from Coralcola and Jose Delara of Protokoll , among others. There will be a 25-song Perennials discography shortly thereafter. Additionally, John Flax will be playing solo shows occasionally and Brandon is playing drums in Thousands. There is a possibility that we'll continue our yearly Winter Solstice Party tradition or do another Halloween set, but as of right now any further Perennials shows are purely speculative.

"Sorta reminds me of the Misfits, except that instead of a singer who's trying to be a demonic Frankie Lymon, they've got a singer who's a demonic Moz. Messed-up melodic trash-punk + talented singer = awesomeness."

"'Stop Snitching' is really different...It's a really interesting song that I can't quite place the influences on. These folks are listening to some cool music to put this out though..."
