If you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now quiet! They're about to anno

About Me

hold your applause, here i am - the crazy dork next door that will peek in your window if given the chance. no, seriously....close those curtains! i moved to new york (from TEXAS) around four years ago and my life is slowly progressing up here. i'm venturing out and seeing what the city is all about. i still feel like a tourist. i'm very low-maintainance (can be ready to go out in ten minutes) - jeans & t-shirt guy here, hate crowds (would rather eat glass than be forced to shop in a crowded mall. i like sports (i'm a 'watcher' not a 'player'..unless you need something to laugh at).. i work in a radiology center, i dabble (that's an 'old lady' word, dabble) in graphic design...i'm a pop-culture whore with a very diverse taste in music and movies. i continue to struggle with my beliefs and my lifestyle, but my family and friends keep me grounded and let me be ME. i LOVE my family. my parents are the coolest and my brother and his family rock... i have a very small group of true friends who i am loyal to (i believe in quality over quantity when it comes to true friends. that, and it takes alot for me to trust new people - something i'm working on, i swear!)... i'm totally open, ready, and willing to meet new friends and form great friendships. you'll find me super-shy at first, then you'll soon be wishing that i'd shut the *&#%@ up....gimme a test drive and let's see where it goes.

My Interests

sightseeing and people watching, walking through and discovering new NYC neighborhoods, graphic design, advertising, rainstorms, museums, dilbert and far side cartoons, STAR magazine, historic landmarks and buildings, thrift stores, amazon.com, i'm a movie freak, love to travel....also, love to just sit in a bar and listen to people 'talk'..and if they happen to throw up on themselves, well i just hope i brought my camera.

I'd like to meet:

.. .. .. .. .i'd like to meet the normal folk. the guy or gal next door...the funny women (carol burnett, betty white, tina fey, amy poehler)....the crazies (what WAS britney thinking?)....those that have truly entertained me (heather locklear, emily blunt, parker posey).. the underdogs (sanjaya and his warpath on american idol, romy and michele, the houston texans football team, etc.) ... you gotta root for the underdog - those people that start with nothing, or have the odds stacked against them - yet they don't give up. (I'm sure the Lifetime Channel's got a movie on right now dealing with the subject...go ahead, check the TV...i'll wait...). i'd like to meet (and thank) the people who use (used) their influential power for 'good' (Princess Diana). and everyone needs a little kylie, timberlake, tony romo (dallas cowboys) and david beckham in their life (of course!).i love the diversity of the new york area and hope to meet as many quality people as possible. age, race, orientation or beliefs just don't matter to me when making friends...it's all about 'comparing notes' and learning about things outside of my comfort zone. i like to listen to the stories, learn about different cultures, beliefs, and upbringing. then i share my stories about growing up in the dirrrty south of Texas (similar to Rose sharing her St Olaf stories on Golden Girls). And yes, silly humor and campy drama will get me everytime.

Music:

...luv me some kylie minogue, adam levine, and kelly clarkson...anastacia, garbage, natasha bedingfield, nelly furtado, alicia keys, dixie chicks, mariah carey, dannii and kylie minogue, josh groban, willa ford, rihanna, destiny's child, timberlake, brit, xtina....and i love almost everything about the 80's and 90's - wilson phillips, all saints, spice girls, cranberries, fiona apple, republica, bardeaux, goddess, chaka khan, cover girls, samantha fox, expose, neneh cherry, en vogue, lisa lisa and cult jam, toni braxton, pebbles, klymaxx, en vogue, wham!, hall and oates, corey hart, stacy q, bananarama, bangles, cathy dennis, olivia newton john, sheena easton, billie myers, leah andreone, monifah, imani coppola, jody watley, billy ocean, chicago, heart, and some old classic country

Movies:

anything with Ryan Gosling, Casey Affleck, Emily Blunt, or Parker Posey in it....JUNO, the kite runner, Lars and the Real Girl, gone baby gone, the Bourne movies, dan in real life, 310 to yuma, waitress, grindhouse, venus, casino royale..the scream trilogy...come early morning, little miss sunshine, notes on a scandal, little children, heights, half nelson, sordid lives, cold mountain, heathers, showgirls (gotta love it), drop dead gorgeous, romy & michele, nurse betty, serial mom (kathleen turner rocks), best in show, the good girl, dick tracy, babe (the talking pig, not the baseball player), friends with money, a league of their own, most horror movies, the documentaries ('dixie chicks: shut up & sing', mad hot ballroom, murderball, spellbound, young at heart)

Television:

project runway! prison break, american idol, grey's anatomy, the CSI's and Law & Orders, criminal minds, general hospital, the office, the housewives, smallville, melrose re-runs, the discovery channel, a&e's intervention, a&e's the first 48, vintage variety shows (carol burnett reruns, the muppet show)... at times i'm a closet-reality junkie - don't interrupt me when 'america's next top model' or 'big brother' is on (i know - a horrible habit)...ooh, and if john edwards 'crossing over' is on, i'm hooked. i may not be totally convinced of 'talking to the dead', but i'm still facinated by the possibility.

Books:

just finished 'magical thinking'....the myth of you and me...the time traveler's wife.....the curious incident of the dog in the night time....the wonder spot...the memory keeper's daughter...the tenth circle...case histories.........

Heroes:

on a one dimensional superficial level, heather locklear rocks. on a personal stronger level, my grandparents - they also rocked.
