The title: I wanted the title to scream Mormon! But, I wanted to target it to Non-Mormons I feel that a lot of non-LDS people would love to see what he Mormons do in a non threatening setting. I don’t push any doctrine I just show the weirdness of a Mormon school. It still remains respectful but also explores the controversies of every day life mixed in with a Mormon setting. It’s quite comedic.
The target: Ever since 9/11 I have seen more and more people searching for some meaning in this life. I’ve even noticed a more religious awareness in the country. I think people are looking for God.
Now I’m not saying that BYU has the answers. I could use any University, but BYU is so funny to the rest of the world because of the sheltered Utah Valley Mormon culture bubble. It makes people ask what’s wrong with those Mormons. while most college students are facing the every day decisions of drugs, alcohol, sex, etc, BYU students are freaking out about "that girls skirt is to short," "that guys hair is too long, "I wont date a man if he didn't go on a mission." I’m a failure because I’m 21 and not married" etc.
To the rest of the world, Mormon every day issues are not ridiculous, but to Mormons. Its the difference between heaven and hell!
Hopefully this will teach LDS and Non-LDS what really matters. That; if you are doing your best, to be the best you can be, than no one can judge that, except God!
