About Me

= Anthony LaMont The Man In A Dress With A Goatee With his show stopping dance routines which include back flips, high kicks and splits it’s a wonder Anthony LaMont hasn’t broken any bones, or anyone else’s for that matter. In a world consumed by image and appearance, Anthony LaMont throws caution to the wind and performs his show stopping routines, not on a stage, as you might have expected, but right in the middle of a jam-packed and slippery dance floor. He models, he sings, he dances, and he designs his own costumes; he is a man in a dress with a goatee and not a drag queen… His talents have no boundaries. Is there anything this NYC nightlife staple can’t do? I don’t think so.Anthony LaMont was born in St.Louis, Missouri; a city who’s famous off spring include legends like Mark Twain, Ginger Rogers and Jean Harlow. It seems as though St. Louis has something in the air because as far back as Anthony LaMont can remember, he has always had a deep love for the arts, especially the theatre where he would sneak off without his family’s knowledge to catch performances. He discovered his passion at an early age; however, he also understood that his passion was not to be shared with anyone else. As a young man, LaMont entered the military where he became a drill corporal. The military awarded him the freedom of meeting people from all walks of life and it seemed they all had the same story to tell: “Go to New York City, you’ll love it!” Once he arrived in NYC he landed modeling gigs through the Johnson and Johnson publishing. Although he was often called out for shoots, the money did not allow him to attain the lifestyle or the accolades he craved. He took a job waiting tables and doing the choreography for a restaurant called Chevy’s. It was here that LaMont honed his choreography skills which would eventually win him accolades in and around New York City . Eventually, he was introduced to the nightlife New York City had to offer. He became a bouncer at Barracuda and on a whim entered Mona Foot’s Star Search contest where he won for (a record) seven consecutive weeks. He decided to go by the moniker Ms. Doo-Her, “because I was performing her record and her record.” As the weeks went by, LaMont realized that he had a knack for entertaining a crowd and with his captivating performances the crowds kept on coming guaranteeing jam-packed venues. However, the question remained; How do you differentiate yourself from everyone else in the business? It seems that drag queens are a dime a dozen and LaMont knew enough to want to be unique. He already had the awe inspiring performances under is belt, but he needed something else. Hence, “The Man in a Dress with a Goatee” was born. In his own words, “I didn’t want people to feel intimidated by me and I thought this would be a fun way to invite people in. I wanted to make people smile and be a part of something fun. And this was the best way to convey that message.” The message has come across loud and clear. In the last few years, LaMont’s popularity has soared to such an extreme that he seems to have transcended the masses playing host to a diverse mix of people in legendary night spots like Con Leche, Tunnel and Sound Factory. In a profession where many fall into a pigeon hole—entertaining only a select—LaMont has managed to steer clear of that trap, playing host to what he calls ‘a big pot of stew’. Drawing a diverse crowd—a blend of bridge and tunnel, the hip Chelsea mix, as well as the Asians, Latino and Blacks—LaMont has indefinitely secured his place in club land since taking on the persona of Anthony LaMont, the man in a dress with a goatee.Today, Anthony LaMont, thanks in part to his signature call – the mating call of a peacock (Come on, you know how it goes!) – can be found commanding the attention of the largest venues in the Tri-State Area like Pacha NYC & Ibiza, Crobar, Cielo NYC, Stonewall, Splash, Avalon, Krash, , Show’s Asseteria Party, Discotheque and Spirit, just to name a few. LaMont has also hosted events in cities like Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, New Jersey’s Club Abyss, Deco Lounge, The Cage and Hartford, Connecticut. LaMont’s popularity has soared to such great heights that he has now brought his signature style to Tel Aviv, Israel ’s own FFF Shirazi Club Powder. LaMont wowed the crowds with his infallible performance – back flips, somersaults, drama and all. It’s not a wonder he left the country with dates throughout the year.In 2006, Live Records released his first single called “Work That Body (Oh Really)” produced by Friscia and Lamboy. The single spent 36 weeks on Billboards hot dance play at #8 making it the longest dance track to be on Billboard charts and making Anthony LaMont a household name with its searing vocals and deep tribal beats. Things are looking up for Anthony LaMont. He seems almost unstoppable in his drive to make himself known to the world. It’s a wonder it hasn’t happened already. Witnessing Anthony LaMont perform, is an experience unto itself. But, one should take note: Anthony LaMont, is not trying to be like anyone else. He is unique unto himself. He is a talent to behold. And most importantly, if you are looking for a drag queen, you should look elsewhere.
