“If it don’t make Lu Dollar$, then it don’t make no sense to me,†says Lu Dollaz (born Luis Sanchez) who hails from one of America’s murder capitals, Youngstown, Ohio. “When I speak dollars I’m not just speaking monetarily. Money is power. Power is knowledge it keeps you in control of your destiny, which in turn gains the respect of your peers.â€Death seems to be the fuel behind his first album “Trying 2 Make Sense†which features his songs “Life Death Situations†which is a tribute to his cousin who was killed over five (5) dollars in a dice game, and “Died 2gether†which is about his fiancee, who died in the fatal car accident which sent him to prison where he is currently serving his eight (8) year sentence. This 25-year old Boricua is not all about death and gun-play however. With his unique raspy voice befitting of a Godfather, he spirits authoritatively with a lyrical content rarely seen. This certified hoodstar literally paints pictures with words. “Trying 2 Make Sense†poetically walks you through the murderous streets of Youngstown to the pearly gates of wherever. While walking in his shoes, you feel the pain, anger, remorse, and confusion he experiences, while trying to make sense of it all.During his incarceration in Mansfield, Ohio, he and a family member from Miami started “Marimba Recordsâ€. Shortly thereafter, he was introduced to Al Monday “The Landlordâ€, a Murder Inc. Co-founder from Queens, NY, who was doing time there, and executive produced the album. “In no way will I glorify prison, but as much as I hated being there, it was a blessing in disguise,†says Lu of his friend. “I wouldn’t have met the Landlord and this album would have never come to be.â€The Landlord, while working on a track in the prison studio explains his work with Lu: “I loved working with him (Lu), because the album embodies a defining point in his life. A dark time, where tremendous struggle existed. I’m very familiar with that place, you usually find God there, but Lu and I connected under the ground, at the roots. It’s an honor to be a part of something so meaningful and relevant,â€The angels are definitely present on Lu’s CD, though not all of them are there to protect. So proceed with caution as you unravel the package of an entire journey to the place only few are blessed to glimpse in to. “Trying 2 Make Senseâ€. Doors will be opened and questions will be answered. Reviews for the album are promising. There is no fillers on this project. 19 tracks of straight heat. Very seldom can an artist bring you into their whole specrum thru wordplay, Lu Dollarz is that nigga!!..
