About Me

I am a double bass player living and playing in Toronto, Canada. I was born in 1981 in North Bay and began playing the guitar at the age of 12. I took up the double bass shortly after graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor's Degree in English literature in the spring of 2006. My education as a musician has been largely self-directed, although I've taken some private lessons along the way. The music I play ranges from the pre-composed to the instantly composed, but improvisation figures prominently in the majority of these projects.
Currently, I am a member of the following groups:
Wodwos (Jonathan Adjemian-sythesizer, Kyle Brenders-saxophone, Nick Buligan-trumpet, Aaron Lumley-bass)
Kyle Brenders Ensemble (Jonathan Adjemian-sythesizer, Kyle Brenders-saxophone & compositions, Nick Buligan-trumpet, Eric Chenaux-guitar, Tilman Lewis-cello, Aaron Lumley-bass, Brandon Valdivia-drums)
David Prentice (violin) & Aaron Lumley (bass) Duo
Ronda Rindone's Quorum (Anne Bourne-cello, Rob Clutton-bass, Nick Fraser-drums, Tilman Lewis-cello, Aaron Lumley-bass, Ronda Rindone-bass clarinet, Joe Sorbara-drums, Scott Thomson-trombone)
There are other collaborative projects with various members of the aforementioned bands and others including Michael-Owen Liston, Nilan Perera, Robin Buckley, Colin Fisher, dancer Neil Sochasky...
