About Me

Harold Michael Simmons II (aka Future) is destined to be a powerful force in the music industry. With an incredible amount of influence from the musicians in his family, like the souful trumpet sounds of his grandfather and the jazz heavy tones from his father's saxophone, it was inevitable that young Harold would someday fall in line. But growing up in an entirely different generation than those before him allowed Harold to develop an appreciation for various styles and genres of music. The results are evident in his music, from his jazz and gospel roots to his hip-hop style and neo-soul mentality. This is exactly what separates Future from majority of the artists in the industry at this time: versatility.
Future's main purpose with his music is focus on the main aspect that most mainstream artists seem to overlook today: Creativity. For example, his song "Hush," a deep and bass heavy track produced by Philip "Ace" Cole, comments on the increasing number of hypocritical and phony rappers that seem to dominate the industry. It's his charge to the hip hop communtiy as a whole.
To add to his musical versatility, Future is the lead voaclist and alto saxophonist for local jazz hip-hop bands based in Nashville, TN., The Legendary Biscuits and Gravy Band (www.biscuitsandgravyband.com). They have quickly emerged as Nashville's youngest and hottest talent with their perfomances with big name artists such as the world reknowned DJ Jazzy Jeff and their 1st tour with Louisville based band NoizeJoi Summer of 2007.
Enough about the artist, Harold Simmons also does his part to leave his mark in the community as well. He formerly interned at the teen music venue in Nashville known as Rocketown, where he helped organize and promote the Youth Open Mic Night for ages 18 and under. The buzz he helped to create for the event has allowed them to gain the sponsorship and support of Lovenoise (www.lovenoisenashville.com), an organization that specializes in live music, poetry, and various other types of entertainment for adults. Simmons also host several youth functions in addition to being a full-time student under the Music Business program at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. He often performs at events around campus, the most recent of which was the winning the 2007 Urban Showcase at the Curb Event Center, becoming the first freshman to do so.
What more can you ask for? A versatlie, creative, and fresh emcee/musician that gives back to the community is as good as it gets. And the proof is in the music. You can contact Future via email at [email protected].
