BORN IN COMPTON RAISED IN INGLEWOOD ROLL THE RED CARPET OUT WHEN I COME TO YOUR HOODK Aktive:Demetrius Flye - 1979 Born in ComptonRaised in Inglewood, while living with his father and visited his mother in Compton on the weekends.(weekend Compton kid)He started rapping in1995 – Which was part of a group called Looneytic Pimps which his brother had formed. While he was there he could really not rap. His brother who ran the company helped to build his swag and encouraged him to develop his style which is the style that has built his reputation and fame.His brother Mr. Faze, an natural entrepreneur pushed hard for his younger brother and the company to get off the ground but unfortunately in 2002 Mr. Faze fell 30 feet through the skylight of a large commercial building. Right around that time K and his brother had finished a mixtape, which had to sit and never put out. His brothers recovery was long. It took almost a year, during this time he had to pick up the pieces and try to do everything himself.His brother had to undergo several surgeries and could not remerber alot of things. He now is ok and still the same cat, but just a little different. No matter what these brothers can’t be messed with. And everthing that he had to go through during this time made him stronger and more agressive to get his music heard.After that incident and the recovery, K had no producer, no place to record and no direction. He hooked up with a childhood friend named Bryan "Baby Boy" Brown. Baby Boy was a producer and sang hooks. Together they did about thirty songs and put out a video. About a year and half later Baby Boy and another friend was shot to death in his house, where they had been doing all the new music. Before Baby Boy's death he was set to be the next DJ Quik. After that K was disillusioned and was forced to step back once again. Not sure of what to do next he sat on the 30 songs over the next year. Only one song was put out and it was called "Last call for alcohol" and Baby Boy was featured in the video as one of the last things he had done before his death.After that he met Disko through a mutual friend who was a producer. He encouraged K that it was still possible and together he got back on the grind. K and Disko started to take things to another level. They put together all new music and formed a group by the name "New West". At that point they started doing shows as the New West and put out a mixtape called a Inglewood MixtapeVolume 1. At this juncture K went totally active and starting pushing his name and reputation. Meanwhile, he hooked up Problem from Compton who also did music and they formed a friendship outside of music. They informed eachother of shows and upcoming events. As the group New West, K and Disko released a second mixtape called Inglewood Mixtape Volume 2. While he does not claim to be the founder of the New West but the term is based on the concept of the group he and Disko formed in early 2003.At that time no one was claiming the New West or yelling the term at shows. He holds no feelings and likes the fact that the new west is so big and has grown to become the New West Movement. Which now you can basiclly hear all over and at shows.The New West stood for then and stands for now A Movement of West Coast talented artists that are up and coming who stick together. Who net work amongst eachother to show La unity across all hoods.(similar to the western conference with no beefing).The New West movement is large and has spun many new careers for several newly signed artist like Glasses Malone, Roccett and Bishop Lamont.. The Movement shows no signs of stopping with new cats on the Horizon like Scipio, Mykestro, Problem, Frontlinerz, Noni Spitz and producers such as Disko, Dae One, Dem Joints and Money Miles.Though K Aktive hails from Inglewood he does not bang. Affiliated yes, but focused on building a career in the rap business and staying positive. Though he has done his fair share of foolishness like all cats growing up around bangers he is not a punk and at all times respectful.Currently K Aktive is building Put It N My Pocket Entertainment (Pimp Entertainment) in house producers Disko and Money Miles. He has artist in development-Mo B, Hogg and Lady Vix.
