Jermaine Alexander also known as Que was born and raised in the city of Inglewood, CA. He was the youngest out of five kids, 3 girls and 2 boys. His mom did what she could for them being a single mother. Que’s father was not part of his life. Growing up he lived a very fast life. Most of his family members were affiliated with gangs and were drug dealers. When Que was 10 years old his family was held at gun point by 4 men who invaded their home. Out of about 8 people in the house including his cousins, Que was the one who managed to run out and get help. At the age of 12 years old he experienced a tragedy that would change his life forever. His family got a late phone call telling them that his older brother had been shot and was killed by rival gang members. The death of his brother took a very big toll on Que. He was affected tremendously. Now was his time to start wilding out, he followed in his brothers footsteps and joined a gang. The street now became his home. Drinking, drugs, girls and crimes were now his friends. He knew no other lifestyle. All though his mother attended church regularly, Que was not interested. He rather the street life and banged to release anger. Although he loved the streets and stayed out doing wrong he also loved the game of basketball. He always found time to play ball and write rhymes. Yes, Que always loved to write and do music. He also had faith in God, the seed was planted but because of his involvement his commitment was to the streets. As he got older, Que started realizing that not only was he going nowhere in life but that most of his friends ended up dead or locked up in jail. Que knew deep inside that he was set aside because no matter what he did he never got caught. All of the dangerous places he had been he always made it out safe. So at the age of 19 he wanted out, being the last child (the baby of the family) Que always got what Que wanted! So he got out. He still smoked weed and hung out but he was no longer banging. Then he started concentrating on his music. He made songs that talked about money, drugs, degraded women and drinking. He also started working and helping his mom out with bills.Although now Que was doing way better than before, deep inside he still knew there was something missing. He still had a void, he was not content. When he was 22 Que met a friend of his girlfriend and she asked him if he would accept Christ as his Lord and Savior and he said “Noâ€. When he walked back to his car Que felt something inside tell him that if he did not go to church on that Sunday and accept Christ something was going to happen to him. When Que got home he called his girlfriend and told her he was going to church with her. That Sunday he went to church and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and changed his life. He stopped smoking weed and ended up marrying his girlfriend who is now his wife of 6 years. Now Que had been walking with God for a while, he was married and had his first child a baby girl. But Que stopped writing. He thought that because he wasn’t rapping for the world he didn’t need to rap anymore. The same lady that approached him about accepting Christ came to him at church an d gave him a word and told him to continue to write music. After that service, Que started writing again and his gift started flowing. Now he was writing Urban Gospel music.Que is still pushing strong, he is still happily married with 4 children. He released his album, The Invitation in January of 2009. He is currently working on 3 more projects. He has been on the streets spreading the gospel through his music. He has been on hip hop public access channels, the Music Institute in Hollywood, The Rhythm Lounge, Churches and most importantly frontline on the streets and many more places. His heart’s desire is to reach lost souls like he was once. He wants to reach out to the youth and help them fill the void that he once had. Que is currently trying to take his music worldwide to spread Gods message. He knows that he has been called to the nations. As a lyricist Que draws from many sources one of which being Tupac Shakur. Having experienced the life and death of Inglewood’s streets and those of the surrounding cities Que had to make a decision. That Decision was to survive. He changed his lifestyle and the words he spoke. He has accepted the call of ministry to the streets, picking up a positive vibe packed with powerful 16’s laced with solid tracks.
"Having once been a young, lost soul growing up on the streets of Inglewood, I understand the trials and tribulations of everyday life. I realize now that I went through those things so I would be able to relate to the struggles of those after and before me. There is a purpose for each of us in this life and also a mission to complete. Now I'm on my mission and helping others discover theirs."
