About Me

Do you enjoy DIY, Portland? Please help out the all-volunteer team:
Can't spare any cash right now, but still want to help support the show? Please help promote it by putting a flash player up on your own page.
About me: I host this monthly radio show/podcast called DIY, Portland , which airs the third Thursday of every month on KBOO . My radio work has appeared on Oregon Public Broadcasting , the NPR Station Showcase and The Splendid Table . I've produced feature stories and this radio documentary for Free Speech Radio News. I am also a sporadic, late-night dj.
I am part of the production team for Oregon Public Broadcasting's newest show Think Out Loud. I used to be the staff writer at Just Out , Portland's queer newspaper. In the past, I've also written for Willamette Week as well as Portland neighborhood newspapers like The Sentinel .
I've covered a wide range of topics in my work from anarchist clowns and off-beat art projects to water quality and FBI activities. My mother once described my beat as “gay artists and reluctant government officials.” I grew up in Baltimore, attended Oberlin College and now, I live happily in Portland, Oregon in a house full of men and cats.
MUSICIANS PLEASE NOTE: My show is not a music show and I do not review music, albums or shows. I have too many friends I want to keep in the music community. Please do not send me requests for music reviews.
