JUST BACK FROM THE FIRST SET OF RECORDINGS WITH RYAN DUSICK, OF MAROON 5 FAME, IN L.A..... FEELING VERY HAPPY!
During a late-night drinking session on a weekend away in Warsaw, four old-school friends had a conversation about how stale the music scene was and finished with a 6am sing-along. That morning they formed DIXIE. Two months later the band were discovered by legendary UK producer Jon Kelly.
The fact that the band are such close friends is evident in the way they play and DIXIE wouldn't have it any other way. Energy and personality comes across in their performances and the music has something of a tongue-in-cheek sexiness to it.
There're soul-fuelled lyrics, stripped down grooves and classic riffs. It's obvious the band are trying to bring back rock 'n' roll - the fast tracks have a real party feel, the slower numbers, a certain swagger, and every song has a melody that people seem to instantly connect with. Live you see the band for what they really are. The gigs are parties and it's live that the emotion of the songs comes into its own - of course, it helps that DIXIE possess a frontman who performs every gig as if it is his last.
A chance meeting on a plane then saw DIXIE linking up with US producer Robert Shahnazarian Jr in LA. Since then they've been back and forth across the Atlantic several times laying down an album that properly reflects the power of their performances and are currently working with producer and ex-Maroon 5 drummer Ryan Dusick.
