Lil Red

About Me

Lil Red was born on June 9, 1979 in Atlanta, Georgia. The youngest of three and the only boy in the family, Lil Red grew up being the center of attention and the family performer. His love of music is deeply rooted. He grew up listening to some of his mother's favorites such as the Isley Brothers, Marvin Gay, Al Green and Earth, Wind and Fire. Soon, he felt the rhythms of the new hip hop era, becoming enthralled with the pioneers of the industry at that time. Even at such a young age Lil Red felt a kinship with KRS One, LL Cool J, Run DMC, Ghetto Boys, and NWA. His mom saw his potential as a performer and encouraged it by paying him to dance for her friends at parties. It was this time in the limelight that made Lil Red realize his love for performing. Music was the escape from reality that kept Lil Red sane. Lil Red saw his father get killed at the age of seven and he watched his mother go through the transformation from drug dealer to drug addict. The life Lil Red chose for himself was the life of the streets. It was only when Lil Red's nephew, Stacy, died from a long battle with diabetes did Lil Red realize he needed to get back to the basics, back to his passion- Music. Since the loss of his nephew, Lil Red has been in the studio producing track after track, putting all of his time and energy into making music for the streets. He along with two associates, started an independent label called Nonstop Entertainment. Symbolic for the determination of so many artists to succeed, Nonstop Entertainment is aspiring to be the next big label, opening up the doors for other rappers and musicians just trying to get their voices heard. Since its inception less than a year ago, Nonstop Entertainment has had growing support, has expanded in members, and has been focusing on getting Lil Red the recognition he deserves. Lil Red has been doing local shows and has opened up for such acts as Young Joc and Yung Dro. He is working on his debut album entitled The Red Zone and has just released his first single "In Da Trap." Lil Red has been influenced by various artists including Outkast, Eight Ball & MJG, and UGK, but no one has influenced this artist more than Tupac. "His lyrics made me feel like he was talking about me and my life," said the rapper. A fan of Lil Red recently said something similar to him via email, "I know I've said it before, but your lyrics touch my soul. I've seen life in a bit of a different way than you but both of us have been through some serious (things) and we survived and grew from it. That's what makes your music so real, it's straight from the heart. You can see it and even feel it. You can feel it in the air." Like Tupac, Lil Red is a born leader. His lyrics are not meant to just be listened to. They are meant to be heard and felt. Lil Red relates to the streets because he is the streets. Take a moment to FEEL THE MUSIC.
