I told my writer friend, thousands of people read my words every day. Thousands. I regularly get e-mails from readers telling me my words have affected them in some way or another. Made them feel less alone, helped them through a difficult time, made them laugh when they were feeling that they could never laugh again. One woman claims I saved her life. I'm just not sure that my stories could ever have that effect. But it's more than that.When I write a story, I pour my heart into it for a month or two. It is completed, then I send it off. If it is bought, it eventually goes to press and ends up on bookstore shelves. Yes, that's a great feeling...but then what? Onto the next book. Sure there's feedback, but nothing like the feedback I get here. On MySpace there's a sense of community, a sense that we are all going through this together. My words get instant response and I can see the faces of everyone who is responding. I get involved with my readers and they get to know each other, right in front of me. I'm just not sure any published novelist I've ever known has experienced anything like it.So why do I write? For the attention. To share my gift with the world. To express myself and bond with others. But mostly, above all else, I write because I can't not write. I'm always writing and always will be, even if my words never see the light of day. Oh wait...they already have! In the year I've been blogging I already have had more people read my words than most any published author I know. So...the only thing missing is the money and really...is money more important than touching lives?I don't think so. Chris was born in Texas and moved to Alabama in the third grade. He completed his high school years in Jacksonville, then went off to serve this great nation in the Marine Corps. After serving his country proudly he left the military life behind to follow his true calling in life,writing. Then after the events that changed the world on September 11th, he joined an elite group of special forces in the Army. All of the events that have molded him into the man that he is today are recorded in a series of short stories and one novel. He is on his way to becoming one of the great story tellers in the nation.He is a great friend and writer. Someday he will change the way the world views many things.
