BIOGRAPHY
Reggae-oriented R&B vocalist, Wayne Anthony, was born on August 28, 1981 in Islington (St. Mary), Jamaica and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Following his experience of hardships living within the countryside of Jamaica, Wayne Anthony’s mother initiated his move to Florida. Hence, the artist would encounter his first love—MUSIC.
At 11 years old, after hearing Boyz II Men’s “Water Runs Dry,†Wayne Anthony knew he wanted to become a recording artist. He joined the chorus while attending South Plantation High School. In high school, he and childhood friends; Ezekiel “Zekedon†Edwards, Ayinde “Scientific†Edwards, and Hennick Lewis formed an R&B group called 4Harmony. They would perform for local talent shows and school concerts. The group members eventually parted and Wayne Anthony, ultimately, elevated his singing career.
The South Florida rising star’s distinctive, smooth and eloquent voice sets him apart from all other local artists. His voice, featured on the hook of Mr. Vegas’ 2003 hit “Pull Up†on the Coolie Riddim, took the dancehall scene by force. The hook, “…the vibe is right and the ladies gettin’ wild on the dance floor…,†took over the airwaves throughout the Reggae and Dancehall community.
The artist can as well be heard on riddims such as Richie D’s White Liva Riddim- “You Don’t Have to Call†(a recreation of Usher’s 2002 “You Don’t Have to Callâ€), Hydro Riddim-“Lets Party,†and Tijuana Riddim- “Can I†and “Got Girls†feat. Delly Ranks. He is also featured on “Hop in the Drop†by rap artist, Revalashin. Wayne Anthony has collaborated with many other artists such as Trick Daddy’s Dunk riders, J-Shin, Stacks Money, Inner Circle, Kripto, Bezerk, and the list goes on.
“A lot of people don’t recognize this, but R&B is what I do…it’s my specialty. Reggae is what got me where I am today and I’ll never forget that.I think the fact that I can do both, makes me an extraordinarily versatile artist,†says Wayne Anthony.
