Does anyone read it anyway? I mean to say – look at the excessive amounts of mindless drivel most people write.
Alas, I find myself staring at the breeze of writers block.
Okay, let’s start with the basics:
My name is Jimbo, Jimme or Jim, whichever you prefer. I’m 23 years old, 5ft 10in, rarely shave and check the backdoor is locked 3 or 4 times before I leave the house.I’m a child of the late 80’s early 90’s, an age that brought us Garbage Pal Kids, Nintendo, the Goonies and Loose Goose BMX’s.
The mid 90’s brought us FHM, Playstation, From Dusk
till Dawn and Hooch.
The late 90’s early 00’s brought me Benson n Hedges, Dance Music, Pulp Fiction and Scrumpy Jack.
The early 00’s brought me Jungle, DJ’ing, Graphic Design and Ganja.
In ’99 I went to college with the same attitude I had in school and was swiftly kicked out on my arse much to the delight of my mum.
I went back the following year to study Multi-media graphic design and you could say this was when I began to "grow up". Don’t get me wrong, I was well lazy in college. I did barely enough work to pass each and every module, smoked a lot of weed and regularly failed to turn up.
That said I did manage to graduate in 2002 with an A level in photography and a BTEC National Diploma in Multimedia. TOUCH!
I also started getting real serious about DJ’ing. My early mixing days started with trance and house, moving on to hard house and hardcore but thanks to a real good pal of mine – Paul Reynolds – and another two fella’s I aint seen for a long time – Ben n Si – I got reintroduced to jungle/drum n bass.
I’d grown up with jungle but it was never my scene, and I really didn’t like MC’s. Paul, Ben and Si made me sit up and listen and It aint till you HEAR it that you get it. And then you do a Drum n Bass rave and you really get what it’s all about – soon you can’t even listen to it without an MC. You start to tell the difference between when an MC is on the beat or not and you discover your favourites (Nu Breed!!! Foxy, Eksman, Shortstan, Herbzie).
Since then I never looked back, anything that breaks I’m mixing. Drum n Bass, Garage, Break beat… I still love a bit of funky house and some old skool trance etc. but
