About Scott Damgaard:
About My Music:Originally from Wisconsin, I've been living in Boston for several years now and I play about twenty shows a month all over the New England area, and I've also toured much of the United States and Europe. I am a career minded singer/songwriter/guitarist, and I've written and independently recorded about four albums worth of songs, and some people say I'm also a pretty good cover artist, with a repertoire of over 500 songs.
I'm in a band called Stained Glass Eye, but I mostly make my living by playing solo or duo acoustic shows. I am open to collaborating with other musicians and I've co-written songs with my brother David Damgaard, John Krivit, Tom Abbott, Dave Lieb and others. Some of the bands I've been in in addition to my current band, Stained Glass Eye, include The WayOutz, Damgaard, and The Buzzsaw Frizzbees.
What kind of music do I play? Well, put simply, I'm here to rock your world, and if you take the time you'll find there's more to me than that. I sing and play guitar, so you might think that could limit me a little bit, but I like diversity in life and likewise, I will never restrict myself to playing one style of music. I'd have to say lyrics and melody are most important to me, and when it comes to rhythms and musical arrangements, I like to try new things.
There are many branches on the tree of music and I like to use my guitar and the talents of my bandmates to explore them all. If I have to describe my music, the best I could do is quote Louis Armstrong who once said, "there's only two kinds of music, good and bad." I try my best to play the good stuff.
Personal Interests:
In addition to playing, creating and listening to all kinds of recorded and live music, I also like learning new things, going to new places, meeting new people - but nothing beats talking to an old friend, taking photos, spotting Jupiter, Saturn, Venus or Mars among the constellations I recognize (especially my favorite, Scorpio, which I am) and seeing them rising in the east, sitting high in the south, then setting in the west, travelling, sight seeing, sunsets, sunrises if I'm still awake, cool clouds, changes in the weather, chilling out, staying up late, sleeping eight hours, the human touch, contemplation, people watching, movies, the Sundance Channel, theatre, acting, photographs, paintings, modern dance, performance art, the praying mantis, Red Sox, Packers, frisbee, scrabble, backgammon, bowling, campfires, canoeing, hiking, long distance running, going to the gym, juggling, unicycle riding, browsing on my computer, using HTML code to write my own website, calculus, physics, hanging out with friends and family, but I also need time alone, too, eating good food, cold ales, using my brain, and sometimes I like to just try to get in a zone. I don't like following trends.
