JON BOY aka Mr. Virginia: The Next White Phenomenon of Hip-Hop
On January 6, 2007 the landscape of television changed as music fans and aspiring rappers in the U.S. and worldwide (64 countries to be exact) tuned into the premiere of VH1’s The White Rapper Show. For the Classic/Old Skool Hip-Hop fans, the draw was viewing Generation Xs claim to fame, MC Serch from the rap group 3rd Bass pass the torch to the newest generation to embrace hip-hop. While younger fans of the show watched to see who would be crowned the next Caucasian rapper to take on the music scene.
Well, the momentum has been building, the scene has been taken and a star is emerging, his name: JON BOY. Jon boy aka Mr. Virginia who hails from Southern, VA embodies the number one code of ethics in Hip-Hop, which is to simply "Keep it Real." Jon Boy is a rapper/producer that is not trying to be anything other than himself, so if you’re looking for gimmicks you won’t find it here. As a true lyricist with real substance, Jon Boy appeals to a wide audience, but stays true to the spirit of the genre. His debut album entitled, "Mr. Virginia" features his upcoming single "Rise-Up" which is an anthem dedicated to old and new fans alike that according to the song’s hook, "you will get to know me, I’m a Rise-Up, Rise-Up...I promise you’ll get to know me..." is a testament to the rappers determination to rise to the top of the industry. Jon Boy is paving his way to RISE to the occasion and make his own print in the music industry.
Jon Boy is scheduled to be featured on various tours within the U.S. and International markets this year and will be filming his first music video in California this spring for his first solo-release. He has also obtained a clothing endorsement with the up and coming Urban clothing line "Seecho" from Designers: Monsee’ Wood and Chris Cho from Richmond, VA.
Many know Jon Boy from the VH1 program, however he’s been rapping and producing years before his appearance on the show and is a seasoned professional who is ready to unleash his skills to the world. In the reality series, he gained exposure and an undeniable fan base, however in the reality of life he is going to be a trail-blazer on a mission blazing the scene for all Hip-Hop fans worldwide.
