I am a 29 year old artist/singer/songwriter. I grew up near NYC, then moved to Vermont, and then Charlotte, NC. I started playing classical flute at nine years old (later jazz flute), and guitar at fifteen. I have studied music theory extensively, and also play heavy lead guitar. I have also recently become a studio painter and metalsmith, and am seeking a master's degree in Fine Arts. I think I was first influenced by my grandfather, Ed Labunski (www.myspace.com/edlabunski).
He is the man behind the piano in this recently redone Chevy commercial: ..As a two year old, I used to sit in his studio while he was recording his album "South", and hearing all that loud music had a big effect on me. Apparently 1979 was a good year for me (haha) I really love every kind of music and sound, as I think it all has something to offer the world... I have been studying my family tree, and artists and musicians go way back, so I realize now why I do both. I think painting and making art helps me with music and vice versa. Another big influence was studying jazz flute for a little while with Bill Hanna in Charlotte, NC. For some strange reason he called me "Wendy" and showed me the soul of the south, where rock and roll was born...
