About Me

I was born into this. I had no choice. I am a second-hand-rose. Before I was even brought into this world my Mom and my Nana would comb the thirft stores of Oakland, California putting together the wardrobe for the child that would be. Once I arrived, weekends where spent "garage saleing" with my mom and dad. It is there that my dad taught me two things: 1) "You never know what tiny treasure is on that table" translation: stop at all gargage sales and 2) "This car stops at all garage sales!", the bumper sticker my dad said our car needed. If we weren't "saleing", then it was bus trips to the Salvation Army in downtown Oakland to visit my Nana, who worked there for years. We are a product of our environment and mine happened to be diggin through peoples "unwantables"...to find that gem, the score, a little something that gets your blood pumping and the adrenaline going, like you just got over on the world. The proof is in the picture, 3 generations of "junkers": my mom, grandma Rose and me.
I consider myself a modern day pirate hunting for buried treasure or booty if you will. My ship is my Saturn Vue and my ocean is the countless number of thrift stores, garage sales, fleamarkets, etc. that can be found in every cornor of the country.
