About Me

LYNN HOBSON
PRESIDENT
HOBBIECOM, INC.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Lynn Hobson, (Granddaughter to the late great Political Activist Julius W. Hobson, Sr.) grew up being a leader among her peers. At the age of fifteen she was appointed as a Youth Official in the District of Columbia during former Mayor, Marion Barry’s first term in office. With this appointed position, Lynn visited schools and was since marked by DC elite as “the one to watch”.
Upon graduating from High School and completing her term as a youth official, Ms. Hobso then attended Howard University where she majored in Business Management. Seeing the success of her college peers within the Music Industry (P-Diddy; Ananda Lewis; Don Pooh), the itch to be in Entertainment rubbed off on her after reading a book called “The Personal Touch” written by Author and PR Phenom Terrie M. Williams. Shortly after reading the book which provided the ingredients needed in order to survive in this fast-paced business world, Ms. Hobson applied for a summer internship and was hired immediately for the upcoming program. Impressed with her ability to pay attention to detail, Lynn was quickly promoted through the ranks of The Agency. Her experience at the agency allowed her to capture the full scope of operating a business while simultaneously coordinating events for clients such as Chris Rock, Johnnie Cochran, Boyz II Men, The Essence Awards, The NBA Player’s Association, and more.
After two years at the Terrie Williams Agency, Lynn decided to explore opportunities in the music industry. When word got out that Lynn was a free agent, she was shortly appointed as the Director of Publicity for Untertainment Records/Sony Music. While at Untertainment, Lynn created the publicity department which housed Rap Artists such as Lil Kim, Junior MAFIA, Cam’Ron, and Charli Baltimore.
Realizing the potential to take her talents to the limit, Lynn decided to throw her hat in the ring to become an Entrepreneur. HobbieCom (named for her last name and the abbreviation for communications) was started in February of 1998. Nine years later, Lynn’s company is still providing personable and professional management, marketing, public relations, artist booking, and event planning services to her peers in the entertainment industry.
Over the years, Lynn has been featured in Sister 2 Sister Magazine, Billboard, Rolling Out Newspaper, and she was additionally awarded the Network Journal’s 2001 “Top 40 Under 40 Award” in New York City. HobbieCom clients have included NIKE; Sister Souljah; HitCo Music Publishing; Mark Pitts; Mike Tyson; Simon & Schuster; Doubleday; NBA Player Jerry Stackhouse; Cam’Ron; Juelz Santana; Chris Brown; MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16”; and more.
In time, Ms. Hobson aspires to re-explore her political roots and become a positive force in Government. Keep your eye out for Lynn as she continues to climb, higher.
