Out of the shallows of New Jersey comes the toe-tapping, gritty rock and roll sound of The Bad Touch, steered by passioned musicianship that flies wild like a kamikaze but lands purposefully in the soul of the earth. Drawing comparisons to bands like The Pixies, Beck, The White Stripes and Pavement, this red-blooded four-piece produces edgy, alternative music laden with tight riffs and 21st Century wit. Each of the four members has been playing in and around New York City for the better part of the decade and brings a vast array of talent and experience to the band with, collectively, roots in jazz rhetoric, electronica, folk and punk rock.
Headed by NJ native Eric Wills, bassist for electro-pop band New London Fire, The Bad Touch joined forces in 2004 with the thirst to write original music. His music comprises clever song writing that heads naturally left of center with the sense that one foot stands in yesterday and one always in tomorrow. Eric twists fresh, soulful vocals around carefully crafted lyrics and backs them up with brazen, scratchy guitar licks while the multi-talented and multi-tasking Pat Firth, also of the funky fusion group Josh Dion Band, lays down rock hard bass lines and lyrical organ melodies. All the way from Kentucky, professional drummer Quinn Blandfords unabashed playing absolves everyone of their sins and suggests its time to hightail it to the nearest whiskey bar. JP Doherty, guitarist for Indian electro-rock group Karsh Kale and TBTs latest addition, drives the music home with ambient guitar sounds and euphonic harmonies. The result is handcrafted musicianship at its finest delivered in a smart, heartfelt style.
