About Me

Done with the MA. Done with the dorms. Still teaching English at Hope and now we're living on our own again. I'm overjoyed at having my own washer and dryer and Jay is happy to have his own garage. Can life get any better?

My Interests

coffee talks with friends, quality time with my husband, adventurous travel, good books, my family, my students, music: writing it, listening to it, discovering new cool stuff, leading it (i.e. leading worship); Shakespeare, rhetoric, philosophy, The Bible, education....I am a nerd, aren't I?

I'd like to meet:

I suppose "meet" isn't the word of choice for me here. I'm not trying to meet anybody on myspace; however, I would love to hear how my former high school students from WCHS are doing. I'd love to be in contact with old friends from my childhood, high school, and college. And of course, I'd love it if students from our high school group would be my "friends" too! All I ask is that you'd keep it PG.

Music:

I am forever grateful for the invention of the iPod. The Shins, Snow Patrol, Jimmy Eat World, Smashing Pumpkins, Aimee Mann, my old roomate Jenny Hensley(now Prest) is one of my all-time favorite song-writers, David Crowder, John Mayer, Radiohead, U2, The Used, Guster, Something Corporate, Weezer, Damien Rice, Counting Crows, my husband writes amazing songs, Prince, old school MJ, and Aerosmith...to name a few.

Movies:

We own Big Fish, Garden State, The Incredibles, Shakespeare in Love, Saving Private Ryan, Shawshank Redemption, Gladiator, Big Daddy, SpiderMan, and Monsters Inc. because we like them. I would like to own Cinderella Man and Finding Neverland. Apparently, we don't watch too many movies, as you can tell.

Television:

LOST and I must shamefully admit, Laguna Beach (Season 1 and 2). I'm a pop-culture junkie so I watch a lot of MTV and VH1...I know, it's pathetic. I have also decided I need to confess to loving What Not to Wear, Grey's Anatomy and Top Chef. Now you know.

Books:

Sophie's Choice, Cold Mountain, I Know this Much is True, Invisible Man, The Great Gatsby, Pride & Prejudice, The Lovely Bones, Will in the World, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Beloved, The Things they Carried, Catch 22, A Vocabulary of Faith, A Handbook to Literature, Devotional Classics, The Poisonwood Bible, and 1984....whoa I forgot to mention Harry Potter. I am a Potter fanatic. I really would like to "meet" J.K. Rowling.

Heroes:

My husband. He is the most amazing man I know.

My Blog

Revision...

Because I am a perfectionist, I have to state that my mood in the first blog was supposed to be contemplative, not confused. Oops.

New York, New York

Well, my husband is romantic and wonderful, so he arranged a quick trip for us to go to New York City, stay in Times Square and get me some killer boots for my Christmas/Birthday present. We had a whi...
