Cooking, wine, tequila, going to see bands in clubs. Not a fan of the big venue shows (or bands, usually). The sound at those shows is usually pretty bad and the show itself feels too impersonal to be fun.
Someone who's interesting to talk to and who has decent musical tastes. Confident, but not egotistical. Well-rounded where they're as comfortable at a club show as they are at a wine-tasting. They have to have some discerning taste in music....
The Shins, Led Zeppelin, Pinback, Bauhaus (Peter Murphy, David J, Tones on Tail, Love and Rockets), Muse, Radiohead, Neil Young, Rooney, Norah Jones, Big Black, Coldplay, Guided by Voices, Firehose, Grant Lee Buffalo, Snow Patrol, The Cure (before Kiss Me...), Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Muffs, the Beatles, Vast, Soundgarden, Bob Mould (Husker Du and Sugar), Traffic, Replacements, Zero 7, Steely Dan, Queens of the Stone Age, The Smiths, The Who, Beta Band, Pixies, World Party, Jack Johnson, X, Foo Fighters, Morphine, Throwing Muses, Yes, Undertones, Meat Puppets, XTC, L7, so many more. And of course all my friends' bands.... :-)
Almost Famous, Fisher King, High Fidelity, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (I like the original better), School of Rock (I wish I could teach a class where I could show the relationship of each seminal band to its spawn!), Unbreakable, SLC Punk, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Manchurian Candidate (ORIGINAL VERSION), Sixteen Candles, Gigi, Meet Joe Black, Matrix Trilogy, Elizabeth, Pleasantville, Road Trip, Ocean's 11, Princess Bride...a bunch more and always interested in watching someone's recommendation.
I admit to watching TV because there's always good eye candy in most of those shows, but I use TV mostly to turn my brain off after work and wind down.
Love to read; in general it's for entertainment and escape. I will read something more substantial if recommended by a friend and sounds interesting.
A couple guys in the radio business, an ex-boyfriend's mom who died from cancer...everyday people who manage to be accepting, generous, interesting and excited about life in general despite the pits that we always fall in at one time or another.
