About Me

Well many of you already know me, but just incase you don’t, I’ll give you a bit of a glimpse into the life of Joshua. I was born in Oxnard, California. I was the only white baby born in Oxnard Community Hospital that day, March 5th, 1978. Due to some possible Mexican gang backlash (not kidding) and job opportunities, my family moved to Spokane, Washington. (I was still a toddler.) “Spokompton,” is where I grew up. Even though Spokane is a “shit-hole” town, it brought me many things that I value today. The town’s premise taught me about hard-work, being real, and being a brother and a loyal friend…, baseball-bat loyalty, beating your ass was o.k. if you deserved it.
After high school, I moved to the Liberal and Beautiful town of Portland, Oregon. I fell in love with the city the first time I visited in 1995 on a choir tour from high school. I was really impressed by the whole city and said to myself ...I got to move there. After traveling around the country for fun and work, the Pacific Northwest still seems hard to beat. (it does rain a snag much :)
I chose Linfield College, in NW Portland, Oregon. They offered Nursing and Health-Science. I figured since I was terrible at math, but enjoyed science and challenging myself, that the health profession would be a good fit. I also wanted to live in the vascular Portland area to combine the venture of playing in the NW music scene with my scholastics. It worked out well, I met many, many, talented musicians and was immediately able to partake in projects that have led me to play in some of the most influential footprint venues in the Northwest scene.
Though a full-blooded slacker, I was able to graduate from Linfield with as B.S. in Health Sciences without cheating, which I found to be a sick epidemic in higher-learning. It led me to the field I currently work in (not an easy road) Medical Sales. I have now worked for two medical device corporations and as of recent, have decided to venture on my own. I carry my own medical lines on the surgical and post-surgical spectrum. It is a challenging, yet rewarding career.
Switching back to music, I currently play in the member jumbled band known as FarCry. (www.farcrymusic.com) I have the pleasure of playing with good friends and a quirky, yet talented artist and singer Andrew Supina, who is a true-friend. I have also played in Blueroom 5 and Hawthorne…RIP. If you’re interested in my solo-stuff, you can check it out at (www.myspace.com/joshuajonathandavid ). Music keeps me sane and young. It allows me to express a part of me that can not be seen any other way. Without it, I do not know how I could manage. I don’t want to be one of those old, washed-up, has-beens, playing at local dive bars at age 45, but if it keeps me alive I just may.
My other-half, is Carley. We met in college, and I had to work my ass off to get her. (I didn’t have the charm or good-looks, so I had to get creative.) She fell for it. She is a beautiful, sweet, honest and intelligent young woman. She works as a nurse at Providence St. Vincent Hospital. I must say she is solely responsible for keeping my A.D.D. ass grounded. I’m a dreamer, but she keeps things realistic. She has always been there for me in some way or another over the last 10 years. We were also able to create a wonderful young stinker by the name of Alexa Marie McCormick. She looks a lot like me and definitely has the same temperament. I think she is going to be one hell of a girl as she continues to grow and mature.
In closing, I am a blessed American. I take pride in my faith, my family, my heritage, and my country. I am a Christian. I believe we are here for a reason and that Jesus Christ the intelligent designer created this crazy universe. I am politically conservative and have a hard time understanding the logic of liberals. I hate socialism, and despise anything that thrives from naturalism or moral relativity. I love to debate, but often find that not too many people enjoy mental-confrontation which is understandable. I try to stay true in style and thought. I don’t think its right to judge, but that doesn’t alleviate the necessity of standing for what you believe in. I think Americans are becoming pussies, lowering the standards of excellence for the silly sake of esteem, which should be earned, not given. I love conversation and to be challenged. I want to become more charitable and work harder to help people who need it all over the world. I drink beer and hang out with people who don’t always think like me. This is extremely important in avoiding the “all-knowing” attitude, diversifying your thinking even if you don’t agree. Most of all I love people and want everyone to have a chance at success and love. The easiest motto to live by was best said by Christ… “Do unto others as you would have done to you.” It is a simple yet amazing life formula.
