How Village Green Records was started: Writen by Lyndsey
"Jared graduated from college and didn't have a job to do. He liked music and his friends did too, but sometimes they didn't like driving an hour to get the music that they liked to listen to. So, he found an empty building and told a man that he would pay him money every month if he would let him use the building. It was now a store, a record store. It was given the name "Village Green Records", for it was in the village and Jared liked the Kinks. He and some friends decided to live inside of the record store. Men, women, boys, girls, and sometimes dogs would come inside and buy records and compact discs at reasonable prices. Sometimes people would just come in to chat, watch a movie, or play a video game. Sometimes rock and roll bands would even play songs inside the store or out in the front yard."
Jared has packed his bags and relocated to Bloomington, Indiana. He is now enjoying life while mailing out your orders from the warehouse of Secretly Canadian. As for Village Green Records a new owner has traveled to town and will be opening the store back up this summer. If you walk by and need to sit down for a while come on in and enjoy a movie and some coffee with us.
Village Green Records holds instore events year around. If you would like for your band to perform please send us a message or send a email to [email protected]
