Ben Tom aka DJ Durben born in S.F in 1975 grew up in the midst of San Franciscos legendary scene, and unlike most, was inspired more by his peers than by the likes of the Icon DJ. Beginning his path towards a career in the music industry, Durben found himself behind his mothers piano at the early age of eleven. Pounding away melodies just for fun, his mother recognized his ability and placed him in lessons. Uninterested to learn how to read sheet music, Durben preferred to play by ear and eventually abandoned the piano wanting to play music that defined him better. Listening to early Hip Hop, jazz, Classical music. Durben first took notice of vinyl in 1992 he began playing around with the turntables as a hobby. A couple of years later, Durben realized that his hobby meant more to him than a simple pass time. With a new focus on House Music, Durbens once hobby turned into what is now a career and has become a new breed of San Francisco House DJ. Keeping his audience in mind every time he hits the tables, Durbens ability to program his music is unlike most. Mixing 80s Anthems with his soulful, underground beats, Durben has been able to establish residencies in both the club scene as well as the underground rave world. Durben was the Saturday night DJ to see at Club Texture for an amazing 5 years. While keeping up his residency with Peach, Feelgood Ent., Coolworld Ent., Body Music Chicago, Wink S.F, & Life S.F. Expanding his dj'ing all around the world. Always looking for a way to express himself musically, in 2000' releasing his first full length CD Live at Texture (labeled as one of the best San Francisco House CDs of the year) also releasing his second cd in 2003 "VOCAL THERAPY" along with five undrground mix cd's. Durben is currently in the studio remixing and producing his own tracks for Peach music, Body Music (chicago), Soulmine rec. and Zencity Records S.F. With four releases due out in april 2005, and one release a month for all of 2006. Working with producer's like Ron Carroll, L.T Brown, Jaswho(soulmine rec.)

Ben Tom has been creating quite a buzz and has ventured out of the Bay Area expanding his following throughout the US. Playing with some of the worlds top dj's and producers/singers such as: Mark Farina, Marques Wyatt, Miguel Migs, David Harness, Ron Carroll, Daft Punk, Colette, Kaskade, Roy Davis Jr, Charles Feelgood, Julius Papp, Melba Moore, Steve Lawler, Crystal Method, Christopher Lawrence, Donald Glaude, Paul Van Dyk, Trina Tru-Luv & Vicki B, Derrick Carter, L.T. Brown, Carl Cox, Bad Boy Bill, David Garcia, Soulstice, Doc Martin, Rasoul, Terry Mullan, Michelle weeks, David Coleman& Sen Sei, Garth, Jeno, Lisa Shaw, Sandy Rivera, DJ Dan, Simply Jeff, DJ Voodoo, & Uberzone. Ben would ultimately like to bring his music to dance floors across the globe, building a foundation for the new breed of House DJ and inspiring those who dream of just being themselves.
