MTV Desi is a channel created to provide a haven of music, movies, news, parties, dancing and all of the above for young South Asian-Americans. Not only is the channel dedicated to providing you with the latest music from beyond the waters, but it's been brought forth to give a voice, to highlight why South-Asian American Culture should be celebrated. It's a mass culture tap into the notion of transnational identity -- the idea that despite a degree of assimilation, you can retain close ties to yout native culture.
