the owl of minerva spreads its wings at dusk...what does that mean actually?? it means that history is never complete, rather its always coming into 'being' to reference plato... the owl of minerva (godess of knoweledge) spreads its wings at dusk means literally the owl 'of history' doesnt truly fly off into the abyss until the very end... when the sun finally sets. the point is whatever appears to be reality at one specific moment... regardless of how true it may seem to be, is not necessarily the 'final reality.' reality is in constant flux. this means we should be careful of our judgements and decisions that seem 'final.' cause with more evidence or other factors, that reality may become completely altered. what does this mean for us practically??think before making any decisions you'll regret... cause once the owl of minerva spreads its wings... its gone.
An excerpt from Marcel Proust (Swann's Way, pg. 274)...
He slipped his hand upward along Odette's check; she fixed her eyes on him with that languishing and solemn air which marks the women of the old Florentine's paintings, in whose faces he had the type of hers; swimming at the brink of her fringed lids, her brilliant eyes, large and finely drawn as theirs, seemed on the verge of breaking from her face and rolling down her cheeks like two great tears. She bent her neck, as all their necks may be seen to bend, in the pagan senses as well as the scriptural. And although her attitude was doubtless, habitual and instinctive, one which she knew to be appropriate at such moments, and was careful not to forget to assume, she seemed to need all her strength to hold her face back, as though some invisible force was drawing hers towards Monsouier Swann's. And Swann it was who, before she allowed her face, as though despite her efforts, to fall upon his lips, held it back a moment longer, at a little distance, between his hands. He had intended to leave time for her mind to overtake her body's movements, to recognize the dream which she had so long cherished and to assist at its realization, like a mother invited as a spectator when a prize is given to the child she has reared and loved."
oh little odette, let me be your Swann.
Life has become the ideology of its own absence.
Theodor Adorno , Minima Moralia, 1974 "Alif, Lam, Meem. This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil). Who believe in the Unseen, and establish worship, and spend of that We have bestowed upon them; And who believe in that which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) and that which was revealed before thee, and are certain of the Hereafter. These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful. As for the Disbelievers, Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for them; they believe not. Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom." Holy Qur'an- from Surah Al-Baqarah, Ch. 2
