I suppose you know my name already. Music is my chosen profession as I spend a lot of time thinking about it and playing it. I have a few degrees, including a BA in International Relations. Earlier in my life I worked for the UN (ITLOS) where I was a research assistant/analyst.
As far as my musical tastes, I like many styles. Jazz has always been at the top of my list. However, I do enjoy "rocking out." It is also a pleasure when I am hired for musicals (I have been a part of the "Parade" and "Fame" orchestra here in Memphis). I have a few projects that seem to occupy much of my time. I perform regularly with three different groups, all of which offer a different sound.
Papa Smurf plays a variety of styles in an original way. The group is made up of some of the best musicians around and it is a honor to play with them.
The Papa Smurf Trio is a quieter group and play just about everything from pop, jazz, rock, funk,..etc.
The Haden Carpenter Trio is a straight up jazz trio. However, we also add in some suprises.
