DJ Budda Q

Budda Q resident DJ at Q Bar Bangkok but is nothing new to the Bangkok music scene. He has been a resident DJ in many Bangkok hot spots and even a regular featured DJ on Koh Pha Ngan for their legendary Full Moon Parties. He has also DJ’d London, England / Thailand / Malaysia / Singapore and Perth, Australia. Q considers himself not only a DJ but a true mixologist, well skilled in not only the art of mixing but cutting and scratching as well. Q as many of his friends call him was born in the United Kingdom and has been a DJ since 1989. An avid hip hop fan and DJ he changed focus to a new genre known as Jungle or Drum and Bass. Music became his life and he decided to learn more about it by going to school. He was educated at Greenwich Community College in Recording/Studio Engineering and put that knowledge to work in producing his first record label from 1991-1994 Haul & Pull Rekords independent record label, Released 4 “12 Singles. The first single–“For Da Rude Bwoy” -reached ..6 UK NME Drum and Bass Chart and continous rotation on the Underground radio stations. Continuing he productions skills in Asia recently producing songs for Nike, and various TV adverts in Thailand. He was a resident DJ at The Clinic in Soho where he hooked up with the legendary pioneers of Drum and Bass music, Renegade Hardware, and went on to become a representive of Trouble on Vinyl (TOV) music label in Asia.He decided to leave England and take his love of music and the sounds of UK Hip Hop and Drum N Bass elsewhere in hopes of spreading the hype of this latest musical revolutions coming from the UK. Q had some friends in Thailand that convinced him to come for a visit and it was love at first sight. The nightlife had potential and the people were amazing, he felt that this might be the place to not only further the growth of “drums” but also introduce the world renowned styles of hip hop, reggae and Breakbeat to the Thai youth. Since then Q has been promoting events, producing music and even made a name for himself as a writer and MC. He has set standards in the Thai scene being one of the 1st foreign Hip Hop DJ’s to settle in Bangkok and help build Hip Hop culture. He Was also the 1st DJ to Open a gala movie premiere (Bad Company, Buena Vista Pictures) Followed by Bad Boys 2 (Colombia pictures) and the 1st DJ to do an all UK Hip Hop set on the Thai Airwaves (DATZ FM). He has worked with famous Thai artists such as Thaitanium, Joey Boy , Da Jim, T-Bone, Modern Dog and Nat Myria, as well as being a featured writer for Zone Magazine and has appeared in commercials for everything from Pepsi, Suzuki, UBC Oscars telecast, Heineken, , and many more (Matching Studios Agency). Q was also a member of the eclectic hip-hop/reggae/alternative jam band the Kai Jo Brothers, who were signed to Universal Music and produced the hit album “Let’s go to the Sea”. With the Kai Jo brothers, Q toured all over Thailand appearing frequently on TV, radio, and magazines, even going so far as to be one of Thailand’s representatives by performing at the Opening Festival on the Waterfront Espalande Theatres On The Bay in Singapore. Q is not only a DJ but a producer and feature artist. Producing songs for the Nike beautiful campaign and some music scores and feature scratches for various collaborations on adverts and albums for various artists and compilations. Featured recently on the Bakery/BMG Thai Hip Hop Compilation T-HOP with production team Jacarr Productions. As the scene grows in Thailand more international DJ’s and artists are passing through,Q has opened for legends such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Cash Money, Jungle Brothers, Afrika Islam, Ice T, and Kept The party flava flowin for the Black Eyed Peas after party, and the 50 Cent after party featuring DJ Whoo Kid, proving that he can hold it down for international and local crowds. Beat Therapy on the legendary Sunday nights at Q Bar Stays strong with a loyal following and a regular fluctuation of international customers. Q keeps the vibe strong playin upfront and classic Hip Hop mixed up in one bag with reggae, danchall, Funk, Disco and Old Skool classics. .Q has been a part time drum n Bass MC for years . Touchin up his skills recently to be a feature MC on vertigo production nights for Goldie, DJ Fresh, and DJ Marky to name but a few. Q has some international dates under his belt, but has been mainly based in Thailand building his residency nights, and various projects, 2006 however Q is branching out again tryin to get some more international dates and broaden his horizons. what ever 2006 brings I’m sure Q will be representing hard!!!!!!!.
