Chicken

In my mind, my dreams are real.

About Me

+ ...nice to meet you... +
Hello, my name is Caz.
Well, my full name is Caroline, but nobody really calls me that - it's always Caz, or Chicken.
I'm a musician.
I'm in a band called The Spinning Jennys .
We play music like this:
...those particular recordings are just me though, as it says. =P
I'm 22 years old and I've just finished a popular music and recording degree (although I never really did any recording) at Salford Uni. All that's left now is my graduation in July! =(
I also work in a tiny corner shop in my hometown of Lancaster. Sometimes it's pretty boring, but there are a lot worse jobs I could have. It's nice most of the time. =)
I have a boyfriend called Bob. We've been together since about the year 10 AD now. He's too cool for school. =)
As of 18th February 2008, I am a shiny new vegetarian. If I'd have tried telling myself that a while ago, I simply wouldn't have believed it, but recently I have had a massive change of heart and a bit of a revelation, I suppose you could say.
I'm trying to keep this brief because the "about me" I previously had was pretty much an autobiography. Keeping things brief is something I'm not too good at, though.
I'm obsessive, opinionated (but also very open-minded), intelligent (although I don't have much common sense a lot of the time), a deep thinker, clumsy and rather shy.
However (at the risk of rambling on) apart from that I guess I'll just leave you to read the rest of my profile and make your own mind up. =)
+ THE END +

My Interests

Obviously, music is my main interest. Stuff involving music is basically what I do with most of my time; be it composing it, playing it, listening to it, going to watch/listen to it live, writing and/or talking about it...whatever really.

I like to paint and draw when I have the time. Unfortunately though, I never seem to have much time anymore.
I love history and archeology. I can easily waste whole afternoons watching the likes of Time Team, and one of my favourite things to do is visiting old things like castles and Roman baths and stone circles and all sorts of stuff like that when I can.

My boyfriend Bob got me a telescope for my 21st birthday which rules. Looking at the sky is fascinating, but unfortunately I'm not too good at it yet.

I guess my other big interest is the occult and paranormal. I just love the eternal mysteries. The thought of ghosts, for one, both terrifies me and completely enthralls me. I do believe in them, and I would love to see one just as much as I would hate to see one. It's a bit of a mental pickle, but there you go.

As I'm sure you can now tell, I'm a bit of a geek on the sly. Basically, if I wasn't gonna end up doing something in the music industry, I would be an artist, an archeologist, an astronomer or a paranormal investigator. Oh, or possibly a gardener, but only when it's warm out. =P

I'd like to meet:

All my favourite musicians, actors, artists, etc. Obviously there's some I would like to meet a lot more than others, like Jimmy Page and Richey Edwards.
People that are both very talented and too sexy for their shirts a-la the Serges and Noels of the world certainly wouldn't be turned away. =P
If by any chance you want to book my band, drop us a line quick-sharpish! =D
Everyone else, if you think we are long-lost kindred spirits or whatever, don't be shy, say hello! I like to meet new people. ^_^

I'm like that with movies.
I also approve of practically anything else with Johnny Depp or Jake Gyllenhaal in, because they are fine specimens of men and I like to look at them. I wouldn't say no to Ewan McGregor, Cillian Murphy or Jonathan Rhys Meyers either, to be fair.
An honourable mention also has to go to the late, great James Dean.
What a dish.

Television:

"You know the black bits in bananas, are they tarantula's eggs?"
The Mighty Boosh, Nathan Barley, Black Books, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Flight Of The Conchords, Peep Show, Spongebob Squarepants, The IT Crowd, Little Britain (1st Series), The Day Today, The Young Ones, Cheburashka, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Ray Mears, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Futurama, The League of Gentlemen, The Inbetweeners, How To Look Good Naked, American Dad, Doctor Who, Queer as Folk, Brasseye, Coronation Street, Time Team, America's Next Top Model, Big Brother, Man To Man With Dean Lerner, Gavin and Stacey, Fonejacker, Later...With Jools Holland, Spaced, Shameless, Creature Comforts, I'm Alan Partridge, Hollyoaks, The Yellow House, Sugar Rush, Band of Brothers, The Adam and Joe Show, The F Word, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, Who Do You Think You Are?, Father Ted, Derren Brown, Star Stories, Masterchef (plus the celebrity variety :P), Skins, Neighbours, Most Haunted, Scrubs, Popworld, Ugly Betty, Rock School, Coast, Meet the Ancestors, The Jeremy Kyle Show, Cape Wrath, Morecambe and Wise, Lost, Desperate Housewives, Footballer's Wives, Life On Mars, Ashes To Ashes, QI, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, The X Factor, Poco Yo, Deal Or No Deal, The Two Ronnies, Ghost Whisperer, Supernatural, Art Attack, Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere...Comedy and amusing trash, basically.

Books:

The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, 1984, The Dice Man, The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Flies, Animal Farm, Trainspotting, "Moab Is My Washpot" by Stephen Fry, Oliver Twist, The Melancholy Death Of Oyster Boy, Kurt Cobain: Journals, lots of books about Led Zeppelin,(especially Dave Lewis's books...very informative), general music biographies and such (some of my favourites include "Brothers: From Childhood To Oasis" by Paul Gallagher, "Touching From A Distance" by Deborah Curtis and "In The Beginning: My Life With The Manic Street Preachers" by Jenny Watkins-Isnardi), the poetry of Wilfred Owen, Bridget Jones's Diary/The Edge of Reason, Memoirs of a Geisha, Paul Jennings' stuff, "Manchester, England" by Dave Haslam, Dan Brown's stuff (especially The Da Vinci code - oh, the cliche), Roald Dahl's stuff...
I think it would be a bit harsh to say I'm not much of a reader, because I do read a lot, but the vast majority of books don't tend to stick in my mind for long after I've read them. I guess basically what I'm trying to say is that the books that I have remembered enough to put in that list must be exceptionally good in my eyes.
I'm just not passionate about books like I am some other things.

Heroes:

Ode to Jimmy Page, by Chicken
I'm not really sure if "hero" is the right term, but there are certain people that inspire me greatly.

Jimmy Page is the main one to note - I admire his skill as well as his musicianship. There are virtuosic players and then there are truly great songwriters who aren't really anything special on their instrument, and then there are your expressive musicians that seem to convey great emotion perhaps without either of the other two points.

Of course all of them can be worth their salt, but the special thing about Page is that he has it all in bucketloads. Plus he's a great producer! The man's a freak!

Not only that, but he is also a fascinating and beautiful man.
I was lucky enough to go to the Led Zeppelin reunion on 10th December 2007, and it was one of the best days of my life. I have never been so overwhelmed.
