Una began writing original music and playing guitar at the age of 13. Her Mother who was also a singer taught her the first few chords and from there she developed her own unique style. She was very much influenced by artists such as Sheryl Crow and Jewel at the beginning. In school she was always encouraged to perform her own compositions for both her Junior and Leaving Cert music exams, and by achieving Grade A in both she decided to persue a music career. After leaving school Una started out fronting a local teen rock band and later decided to buy her own PA and equipment and gig at every opportunity possible! She continuted to gig and record with various other talented musicians...pop/rock/jazz/country... you name it! (from playing in many tiny almost empty venues to playing at big corporate events) and often just solo with her guitar.
She won Glinsk Song Contest in 2004 and again in 2006. She has played support for artists such as Bonnie Tyler, Declan Nerney, Peter Andre and Albert Lee. She played Irish venues such as Whelans, Crawdaddy, Ruby sessions at Doyles (all Dublin), Dolans in Limerick, The Half Moon in Cork, Cuba in Galway, the BBC showcase stage and The Duke of York Belfast. Her first major gig was a solo acoustic performance at The Regent Street Festival 2004 on BBC main stage (London) in BBC White City and more recently she has performed in the Cobden Club and the Bedford in London. She has played at many festivals including the Festival at Christmas in Portsmouth in 2005, and was chosen to take part in the IMRO Showcase tour 2005 and in the 2006 Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin. Una has made 3 trips to the USA to perform solo acoustic for St. Patrick's Day at Mickey Quinns, Indian Shores. She has done many live performances on radio stations including Dublin's 98fm, KCLR 96fm, Tipp Fm and Shannonside Northern Sound. She made her Live National TV debut in 2005 performing 3 original songs TG4 on the show Ardan. Her self-produced EP "Sorry" was released in 2006.
Una is now part of a new Girl Group Called "The Saturdays".
