About Me

I am so sorry of I cannot respond to all of your messages, because I get so much fan mail everyday that its hard to keep up with them!
As a native of Czechoslovakia, I was educated in the public schools there and received a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Charles University in Prague, where I went on to become a member of the Czechoslovakian Womens Ski Team. I immigrated to Canada in 1972 and worked for many years as a fashion model before moving to the United States. From May 1988 until September 1991, I served as President of The Plaza Hotel in New York City, one of the worlds finest hotels, with a staff of over 1,400 people. I was chosen by her peers as Hotelier of the Year by Where Magazine for her work at The Plaza. I was also CEO of The Trumps Castle Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City with a staff of 4,500 employees from 1986 through 1990. Trumps Castle became, under my leadership, one of the most profitable casinos in the world. September of 1991 saw I opening up the doors of IVANA, INC. In February 1993, I signed a five-year contract to present an exclusive line of fashions and jewelry on the HOME SHOPPING NETWORK. I debuted my Spring Collections in April and almost immediately sold out the entire line, with sales figures topping Home Shopping Club charts. I will continue to make monthly appearances on the Home Shopping Network with clothing designs, jewelry and cosmetics under my company HOUSE OF IVANA. My first novel, the New York Times best seller, FOR LOVE ALONE, was published in April 1992 and is became a CBS Movie of the Week in 1994. The response to FOR LOVE ALONE was so powerful and so personal that my follow-up book was THE BEST IS YET TO COME, offering advice to the many women who have asked for my help. My second novel, FREE TO LOVE, was published in October, 1993 and returns to the world of the superrich, old and new money, ill gotten and hard won. My books have been incredibly successful around the world. They have been translated in 25 languages, in 40 countries. I am also extremely busy delivering lectures on the International circuit. Active in various community and charitable organizations such as: The New York City Ballet, United Cerebral Palsy, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, City Meals-on-Wheels, and The Fund for Arts and Culture in Central and Eastern Europe, and any charity having to do with children with AIDS. I am very proud of the assistance I have provided these organizations in raising millions of dollars over the years. I currently divide my time between New York, Greenwich, Connecticut, Palm Beach and London.
