Florida Motion Picture & Television Association Places Double Honors on THE INSIDE JOB
JUNE 11, 2005 – ORLANDO – The Florida Motion Picture & Television Association honored John Taddeo’s short film THE INSIDE JOB with two prestigious awards at this years CRYSTAL REEL ceremony. FMPTA’s Crystal Reel Awards program has long been recognized as the primary film and television competition for the state of Florida.
THE INSIDE JOB, a dark mafia comedy written and directed by Taddeo, received the award for Best Student Short Film and Best Narration for the key monologue in the film.
One of the four stars of the film, Anthony , accepted the awards. “I had barely gotten backstage with the first award when they immediately called me back out to receive the second. It was a real surprise.â€
Since 1973, the Florida Motion Picture & Television Association (FMPTA) has grown from a handful of Florida filmmakers to an organization with members in ten chapters statewide. FMPTA is a not-for-profit organization comprised of volunteer members from Florida’s production industry. The primary objective of FMPTA is to encourage and facilitate increased film, video and sound recording production within Florida, as it is made up of persons involved in all areas of the production industry.
Loaded with violence, profanity, vulgarity and maybe even blasphemy the film has met some resistance at festivals. The film’s most controversial moment is when the etymology of the word “Douche-bag†is explained. It was this monologue that was selected by FMPTA for the Best Narrative Award.
“The film is certainly not for everyone, but fans of Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Goodfellas will enjoy it. It’s targeted at 18- 45 year old males. I’ve screened it for dozens of friends. They laugh out loud and ask for copies.
